First off thank you for reading.

Second is there a reliable root guide for the gs3 with the following properties:

I have a Sprint GS3 running 4.4.2 ota update.

Software V: L710VPUDND8
Kernel: 3.4.0-1368792
dpi@swdd5812 #1
Sat Apr 19 20:56:39 KST 2014.

I have tried running ODIN and CF auto root. Odin passed successfully. However, upon booting the phone, Superuser was not installed. I then installed superuser and got the missing/outdated binary error, which i cannot fix. I have tried searching and looked at various methods.

I am sorry if this is a noob question and has been answered in depth. My search is not turning up any results so i thought i would just post directly. Thank you again for reading and i hope for a response.

Never used cf auto root, but these are the steps that I would take.

First, I would try to update supersu from the Google playstore. If you've already tried this and it didn't work, I would follow the steps below:

Download Philz recovery to your pc, and supersu onto your phone (from the links below)

Unchecked the reboot option in Odin and with your phone on download mode connect the phone to the pc.
Flash philz recovery through Odin. Once it passes, pull your battery from the phone and disconnect the USB. Put the battery back in, and boot into philz recovery (power+home+volume up)
Once in recovery, install supersu.
You may still have to update the supersu binaries from the playstore, but (if so) it should work for you...

Philz has the option to root the phone in Philz settings tho.......so one doesn't need SuperSU zip just the recovery and to download SuperSU and BusyBox from the play store :)

My only issue with philz is that I already had supersu installed, couldn't update the binaries from the playstore and couldn't Uninstall supersu. Hitting reroot in philz wouldn't do anything for me. So, had to download/flash the "correct" SuperSU (update_supersu_blahblahblah)
:D
