I followed the Bricked transformer thread for a while - and there was a file that ASUS didn't want to release which would help recover a bricked tablet last I checked.

I've seen that devices like
* N.C. is bootable from uSD card - so you could recover from a brick using CWM
* G-tab - From what I gather is brick recoverable

Has the Asus transformer shown a way to recover from bricked status yet. Or is it toast < permanently bricked > if an Android rookie takes a few wrong turns as he learns how to root - and tweak the Android ROM's and blobs.

The kind of brick you're asking for is different than the brick that the OTA caused. The OTA one continually tried to load the OTA bootloader without allowing the vol down + power boot in to recovery, that is the reason we weren't able to redo the blobs or reflash roms. As long as you can boot in to recovery your device is not bricked, as you can adb if you can boot in to recovery.

In short, no we can't unbrick using APX. I haven't heard of anyone bricking beyond rescue when they failed to root, so chances are you're fine to root.
