Hello all...

I'm hoping someone might help me with this phone. A friend had this Droid RAZR HD (XT925) which appears to be dead so I took it off his hands.

The problem is that the phone does not respond to any key presses. I've tried the Vol Down + Power, the Vol Down + Vol Up + Power key presses but nothing happens. The only sign of life is when I connect it to a charger (or computer) with the USB cable and a green light turns on, probably indicating it is charging, and a few seconds later a red Motorola icon appears on the screen.

I have no idea what happened to it. Is there any hope for this phone?

Just a follow-up...

After much searching and reading I was able to get the phone into fastboot (I had to press vol up + vol down + power and wait for the screen to switch off then release the power and hold it again while still holding the vol keys) but any flashing attempt (I have only tried recovery because it does not work) results in an error ( (bootloader) Failed to erase partition; (bootloader) Failed to flash partition recovery; FAILED (remote failure) ). I also tried searching for the original Canadian Fido firmware (9.8.2Q-8-XT925_VQL-12.2 FULL) but all links are dead. I did find the file on two sites (asanfile & mobile server) but both have a pay-wall.

Does anyone know if either site is trustworthy or where I might find the phones firmware?

So, luckily, I managed to find the firmware for this phone somewhere else, which I think, or hope, is the right file.

I read the following threads:
I need some help ! Bricked XT 925 (Very hard) ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-razr-hd/help/help-bricked-xt-925-hard-t3106277 )
XT926 stuck in fastboot / recovery mode ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2177253 )
Motorola Razr HD LTE XT925 4.1.2 boot loop ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2707579 )

I tried flashing with RSD but I'm having the same problems as other users and I'm completely stuck on what to do. When trying to flash the following error is given:

preflash validation failed for GPT
downgraded security version
update gpt_main version failed
Any suggestions?

You're getting that fail because your trying to flash FW that's older thank what was on the phone.
Thank you for your answer.

I suspected that that was the cause of the error message after reading quite a few more threads regarding the same problem. I thought that the Jelly Bean firmware version 9.8.2Q-8-XT925_VQL-12.2 FULL for the Canadian Fido/Rogers was the latest one.

I read on other threads that the only thing to do is wait and hope a newer firmware version is leaked. Is it possible to downgrade or to flash something? Anything? Only fastboot works, no recovery, anything...
