I have a galaxy tab 10.1 but am wondering if theres anyone out there who has tried both the tab and the jetstream. Im seriously thinking of switching because im a med student and the pen does wonders for my bio classes. I have a htc view also that I use the pen for to label anatomy but am curious if I should just get rid of both of these and go to the jetstream. any comments would help.

Thanks in advance!!!

I have had both and I much prefer the Jetstream over the Galaxy Tab. I don't use the pen very often and there are a lot more accessories for the Galaxy Tab. I find the experience on the Jetstream much more enjoyable to me. I have never been a big fan of Samsung's phones or tablets, they seem very plasticky to me. I much prefer the build of HTC devices and the Sense UI. I also have the HTC Vivid in white and prefer it over the AT&T Galaxy S II for the same reasons. If it was me I would pick this over the Galaxy Tab any day or any other manufacturer over Samsung. Just my opinion though.

I've been through medical school and would definitely go with a device that has a digitizer pen, especially for your first two years. This will allow you to take notes in your own handwriting and keep up with the lectures.

The HTC Jetstream is absolutely wonderful. I am a doctor in India. Used to earlier manage on a desktop and a Symbian phone (ancient not the word). Used the galaxy tab and saw, did not find much of a functionality difference with it compared to the combo of laptop and Nokia X6 with exception of.perhaps portability.with a.larger screen compared to the X6. Hot myself the HTC Jetstream and my entire preparation and study design.have changed and dare I say, I am really really loving it. Always think that had I had this during my Med school, I would have had a totally different study experience. The digital pen does.wonders not only with the notes in my own handwriting (use Quill for that-way better compared to the native notes app) but even the ability to highlight, annotate and stuff with the native PDF viewer plus the availabilty of my favourite ebook reader islilo which works perfectly-all these got the HTC Jetstream to win.hands down over the galaxy tab. Hope this helps. :)

I'm looking to get a tablet with a stylus very shortly.

I've noticed that the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 is to be released in June 2012, and has a stylus as well, this will be interesting comparison with Jetstream.

Hurry HTC with Sense 4 for Jetstream !

Depends on your application with the stylus. If you wish to annotate and/or highlight stuff, better with the Jetstream/Flyer. Used the stylus of Samsung Galaxy Note and I wasn't impressed with its opton for note taking and annotations. The inbuilt/stock PDF viewer on the Jetstream is way way better. If you want the Sam function on the Note, you need to use eZpdf or something else.I am not saying that is a bad option, but I somehow prefer the stock PDF viewer with Jetstream for annotation and stuff. If however, your main use of the stylus would be only occasional use for signing documents or using it for occasional notes, then you could go in for either. I do not know the specifications of the Note tab. So best suggestion would be to wait for its release, read up some reviews about it before taking the plunge for either of them.

Regarding the Jetstream, only drawback with it which I can pinpoint is that HTC doesn't provide us with timely updates and that may not seem to be the case with Samsung. So if that a priority, then Samsung may be a better bet. Recently helped a friend of mine chose between the Note phone and HTC Flyer. He got the Flyer and has been happy with it compared to the functionality of the stylus and stuff in comparision to the note, if that helps.

Hope you get a device just right for you, but do so only after seeing complete specs and a few review of the Galaxy Note Tab.

One of my hesitation with jetstream is that people complained about the lack of video playback. Has that been fixed. Any problems watching streaming videos, movies?

Also what sense version is Jetstream running ?

Thanks.

I do not have any problem with streaming videos and movies. Watch extensively. I do use a 3rd part app called MX Video player - which allows me to watch movie files on the memory. I do not know of the problem you are speaking about.

It has Sense 3.1 or Sense 1.0 for Tablet (both mean the same as I gather)

I would still suggest you wait, hold on till the detailed specs are out, some reviews are out for the Note tab and then decide.

Thanks,
Kailash.

Has HTC confirmed any Sense upgrade for Jetstream. I know on some other devices they were promised to get 3.5 or 3.6, which is basically 4.0 without some of the 4.0 features?

I would be horrified if there was no upgraded for such an expensive device.

I think you had better see the following threads. We got no idea about the plans for updates etc as HTC is keeping us in the dark. Though it seems it may not happen - but its not yet official. I did warn you of the same in my 1st reply as well. Some speculations and plans are in the threads mentioned below:

I would personally choose the thinkpad if I could do it over again. My professor has one and the technical difference is small but the software is better.
