you have to start figuring out things on your own, you are asking all the questions that should be easy to figure out,

status bar

thanks alot mate, i completely get what your saying about the differences between ios and android :)

for the status bar tho.. still cant see how to make it disappear, i thought the "show the status bar toggle in the power menu" would of done the trick, but it doesnt seem to do anything?

i will definately be visiting the themes and apps section as soon as i get the chance. this is the main reason why i chose the xoom over anything else, such as ipad, apple is too restricted, u have to do it all apples way with pretty much no customisation at all
What I usually do when I want to get rid of the status bar is use GestureControl :)

Check it out on the Play Store, it's an app by GoodMoodDroid and lets you use multi touch gestures to do all kinds of stuff (like in iOS switching between apps, closing them, etc.) It also lets you hide the status bar using a simple swipe.

Downside is the hefty price tag, but in my opinion is worth every single penny.

If this helped, or you think this GestureControl suggestion was good, please thank me!
I am a junior member and don't won't to be stuck on one thanks forever :)

i have been trying!

right, to follow up on your post, lol, how the hell do u set wallpapers properly?

i have full hd full size wallpapers from my PC, transferred onto xoom, and it just wont set properly. Its either really zoomed in a small picture in the middle of the screen, why cant i get it to look just like it does in image gallery?

i understand that it needs to scroll to the right and left although it should be able to do it with a static image aswell, but the images are easily big enough to do that, plus they could do it without zooming in, why is it doing this :(

i found an app that can do it, but it acts as a live wallpaper, therefore it lags :?

found another one which comes under the category of a live wallpaper, however it makes the image static, and totally lag free :D

This thread was painful to read, however. If you don't need all the screens or you want to hide applications in your application tray install APEX Launcher because it's in my opinion the best launcher for Ice Cream Sandwich.

I too got a XOOM recently an immediately rooted it and now I have everything working the way I want. The only thing I need now is a good Twitter application.

So do I. I don't think I could use an app without user colours now, and the tablet layout is pretty nice.

I have literally tried every twitter app, I always stick with plume. I use tweetings when I need push, but I just clear the notification & open plume. Hopefully LevelUp add push soon, it would simplify everything for me haha
