[Q] KitKat What?

Hi All! So I got a Nook HD+ for Xmas and am trying to put the new KitKat os on it. For some background, I have a pretty decent grasp of IT and have worked in tier 1 support roles before. I have been trying to follow along with the post here " http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2579945" and I am having pretty crappy luck. I have tried several variation at this point but can not get things installed correctly onto the nook. My next step is to try going back to square one, I restored the nook from the original back up.So I'm ready try again. I would like to install KitKat over riding the OS that comes on the Nook so I have access to the internal HD and an micro sd card to expand onto. I'm not sure from reading several posts but using "succulent (aka Iamafanof) " blog it should be possible I believe correct? I have found some decent guides on how to do this with Jelly Bean but having never done this before I get lost in some of the rhetoric and short hand I find in the blog. Advice? Criticism? Thoughts?

Are you using a KitKat-friendly recovery to flash?

To me, the easiest way to me to install it is to copy the KitKat rom (http://goo.im/devs/succulent/ovation/cyanogenmod/internal//cm_ovation_11.0_03JAN2014_HD.zip) and the PA Gapps (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942) and the TWRP (http://goo.im/devs/succulent/ovation/recovery//flash_recovery_ovation_TWRP_2.6.3.0_internal.zip) or CWM (http://goo.im/devs/succulent/ovation/recovery//flash_recovery_ovation_CWM_6.0.4.5b_internal.zip) to your internal storage. Boot off your bootable CWM SDcard. Format /system, /data (excluding /data/media, there should be an option to wipe data without wiping /data/media) and /cache, then flash the TWRP or CWM saved on your internal storage. Reboot the device and press and hold power+vol. down momentarily when the Nook logo first appears to get into recovery. You should be looking at whichever recovery you flashed at this point. Then from there, flash the kitkat rom and the gapps, reboot and you're done (aside from deleting the installation zips if you don't want to keep them for emergencies). If you want to use ART then enable it and reboot again, preferably before you install more apps.
