[Q] Live with Walkman (WT19) cracked screen

Hi there,

I've dropped my WT19 and the screen now has a gorgeous crack.

I've come across a topic in the SE support forum where a guy with a cracked screen on the X10 mini says that the LCD on the mini is glued to the touchscreen and they cannot be replaced separately.

My question is does anyone know if this is the case with the Live with Walkman?

They do sell the digitizer separately on ebay, but if it's glued to the LCD it won't be any good...

I already did search ebay, as I've said in the original post. The problem is - if I buy one and it turns out that the display is glued to the touchscreen - then I'll have a touchscreen that's of no use.

So I'm trying to find someone who has gone through this, who can confirm whether the parts are glued together or not.

Havent replaced a screen on a SE so I dont know if its glued. On my Blade it was just glued around the edges, really easy to remove. And since they are selling the screen seperalty I thought that would be the case here as well.. (Cant really see the use in gluing the two parts together and what advantage that would give)

Did you ever find out the answer to this question? Unfortunately mine got dropped today too, and has cracks in the top portion of the glass. I've ordered a replacement digitizer from eBay and am planning on replacing it myself. Would prefer to find out as much info as I can about the installation prior to it arriving.

My replacement digitizer arrived just today, I'll take it to the repair shop tomorrow and I hope I'll have it repaired by the evening. I'll post an update as soon as I have more info.

If you intend to replace it yourself you'll find the Cell Phone Knowledge Base wiki pretty helpful (especially the service manual download link at the bottom of the wt19i article). I'm not allowed to post links here yet, so you'll have to google it.

I had a chance to have a look at the front cover while leaving the replacement digitizer. Be aware that the original digitizer is glued to the front cover frame and also has a soft band glued to it across it's inner edge which must be transferred to the replacement digitizer. The band protects the space between the screen and the digitizer from dust. It should be possible, but I guess you have to be very careful while separating both the soft band from the original digitizer and the original digitizer from the front cover frame.

Thanks for the advice, I followed this thread to be able to find a way to clean the inside cover of my front camera. For some reasons the camera is blurd,when inspected further. The transparent cover has dust from inside. Have you guys experienced it.?

I've got my SE repaired today, it's almost like new, so clearly anyone with the required skills and the right tools can replace the digitizer.

So how did it go? Did you manage to replace the diitizer yourself? My GF dropped her WT19 yesterday so I planned on having a go at replacing the screen. Also how much did you pay for the replacement digitizer? I havent found any decent ebay sellers, do you have a hint?

I purchased the digitizer from an UK seller, the digitizer itself was 22 Euro + 5 Euro for the delivery (standard international shipping).

As for the replacement process - I didn't do it myself, but if you want to do it yourself you'll find the link posted by luiphilip really helpful.

hi there, sorry to interrupt.

my sony wt19 also got problem on the screen.
it didn't crack but part of itis now blank and some sort of lines appear on the screen.

do i need to change tho whole set digitizer or there is simpler repairing method?(cheaper)

Screen cracked WT 19i

Hi, anyone knows of a mechanic who can change the digitalizer on WT19i in Bangalore? My phone's screen is cracked but the touch screen is working perfectly. Any pointers for a mechanic is appreciated.
