Hi,

I am developing an Android app and need to connect to a device via Bluetooth. That device only supports SPP.

As this is an information usually not included in data sheets, does anyone know which devices have SPP enabled?

Ideally, this would be some tablet running Honeycomb; but for the start I would be content with just any information...

Otherwise, is there an easy way to add SPP to a device not supporting it atm?

Kind regards,

SPP support on Android

It appears that there's a bug in the broadcomm bluetooth stack that prevents discovery of all SPP bluetooth devices:

h t t p : / / w w w . g o o g l e . c o m/codesearch/p?hl=en#4hzE-Xyu5Wo/vendor/brcm/adaptation/dtun/dtunc_bz4/dtun_hcid.c&q=%22Device%20[/url][%25s]%20class%20is%200x00%20-%20skip%20it.%22&sa=N&cd=1&ct=rc

(take the spaces out - stupid restriction on this forum that you can't post links until you've made at least 8 posts. who was the smart person who thought that would be a good idea?)

So it all depends on which phones use the broadcomm bluetooth stack. I would like to know that answer to that as well. I can confirm the LG Optimus One, Samsung Galaxy S, and several HTC devices (e.g. Incredible) all don't support SPP due to this bug.
