[Q] Lumia 800 freezes on Orange startup screen after failed update

Hi,

I'm really hoping somebody can help me.

I connected to Zune and went through the standard update instructions but the phone froze at "step 9 of 9" - I think this was during a reboot.

It just hung on the network provider screen (Orange UK).

Now, it won't go past that at all.

Orange support will provide a replacement but that won't help since I would like to retrieve my media.

Any help would be gratefully received.

So, I did some digging and found this page:

So, in the end, I managed to flash the phone using:

"youtube. com/watch?v=puTMCG_CiMk"

However, my problem now is, it's written over all of my old media files. I used to be able to undelete files from old PC hard drives however, not sure on how to do it with a phone - any ideas?

Unfortunately I can't help with this, however my sister has just emailed me to say her Lumia 800 ran flat and now won't boot past the Orange logo either.

She had updated to 7.8 a few days ago. Possibly connected...
