[Q] Lumia 820 Proximity Sensor issues

Hello,

I recently replaced the front frame of my Lumia 820 due to dropping it. While the touch screen now works, I'm having issues with the proximity sensor in regards to calls, where it turns the screen black and doesn't come back on when taking my face away from the screen.

I took it all apart again, used compressed air to blow any dust away and made sure nothing was blocking the sensor.

Is there
a. any way to disable the proximity sensor?
b. does it anything to do with the Amber update? (works fine prior to this)
c. is there a way to go back to an older version of the firmware?

I have same problem. Anyone find solution to that? Probably proximity sensor need to be calibrated, but I didnt find any site with software and information how to do it.

I am experiencing the same fault as what you guys are describing. I've even ordered from other sources to see if it was a faulty batch of screens, but still blank in call. Is there something in the fitting process that is going wrong? Any update or Fix would be great!

My friend had the exact same issue after replacing the screen. He finally took it to his local Nokia Care centre, they noticed straight away that the replacement screen wasn't a genuine Nokia part, fitted a Nokia one & he's never had a problem since.

just make a call and when the display goes black, simply press the left side of the earpiece, then you can see the display. its the problem with the new touchpanel. tigtly fix the touchpad to the panel and you can get it working. not a big issue. i too faced the issue and noticed the solution accidently. hopes it ill be usefull to you guys

Hi. I have been tightening keepeng pressing on top left... Simply took it off digitizer have cleaned to clear proximity glass on digitizer. Cutted very small peace of business card and glued it in between sensors gap on actual sensor and assembled back. Works fine

Hey man, I'm having problems with the same issue but can't seem to work out what you mean with gluing the business card in between the sensor gap? Also in my case I have to push quite hard on both sides before the proximity sensor works, even after tightening it all the way.

Hey. Disassemble your phone. On digitiser a designated hole for proximity sensor. I have cleaned that tint place and made it clear. Now look on proximity sensor. Its rectangular shape and has 2 lenses on it. In between , a very tiny space. In my case i took business card, as it thick, then i have cut very small piece of business card and glued it in that place. Give me you email, so i send you a picture

most of china digitizers work ok but many of them have got extra not cutted plastic in upper left corner (see picture)
this extra plastic makes bigger space between digitizer and frame that's why proximity sensor "think" it's covered.
There is no hope to make it work without cutting such plastic. Unfortunately this cut must be exactly "in line" with line from digitizer operation lines so it's almost impossible to make. China manufacture must make new type of digitizer with thinner digitizer lines and always cut such extra plastic. Then digitizer will be exactly flat on frame and proximity sensor will be close to his hole in digitizer and will work 100%.

How did you remove the color coating to the lens? And do you think that made a difference? Or was it the extra pressure the tiny strip of card put on the sensor?
