I understand that the current OUYA OS is still currently being tweaked, so moving away from Jellybean 4.1.2 won't likely happen in the near future, if ever, but do you think it would make sense to allow updating Jellybean for efficiency/management/performance tweaks purposes? Every android update always comes with improvements, even if minor, but seeing how it is that Jellybean 4.3 was just released today, it made me wonder why the OUYA team wouldn't consider allowing the jellybean update onto their OS. Reading about how 4.3 helps improve the unity engine, supports OpenGL ES 3.0, adds Bluetooth Smart support, and supports 1080p streaming with apps like netflix, it seems like these improvements could help the OUYA in the gaming & performance areas. I understand that the Tegra3 doesn't support OpenGL ES 3, but the other improvements could prove to be beneficial. The fact that my Nexus 7 and the OUYA share very similar specs and that my N7 will have the update, just made me curious as to why OUYA wouldn't want the improvements that comes with using an android OS, even if a modified version.

What are you guys' thoughts on this?

Driver's may require a rewrite for a new version. Its easier to stay put and not go through change. Hence mass majority of the population in NA.

I'd rather have 4.3 with the issues we have now than wait till the issues are worked out. OpenGL ES 3.0 would be awesome, and 1080p for Netflix.

The Tegra 3 doesnt support opengl 3.0 and Netflix 1080p is crazy. Most shows are recorded in 720p and I'm not sure if many or any movies stream 1080. I honestly don't care. Netflix looks fine now. I'd rather have smooth playback on 720 then choppy 1080p. Plus I have a roku for that stuff. The roku handles the bandwidth much better too and adjusts the stream very well to accommodate.

I agree they shouldn't rush it. The Ouya is a more polished game console then what else is out there. I'd imagine they wouldn't try to keep up with all the android updates. Maybe next years model that can actually take advantage of it.
