So I've been playing with the MTD builds, and got the infamous MIUI roaming bug. So I thought to myself, I'll just flash back to stock. Plugged up the phone and get a "Unrecognized Device" message. So I think, maybe it's MIUI. So I try flashing the mtd CM7. Still nothing. The driver installer that comes with Heimdall sees it as unrecognized as well, and I would rather not buy a new phone. Anyone?

Try searching for and installing the usb drivers for the Fascinate. I had the same problem with cm7 a while back and the fascinate drivers fixed me up just like new.

You need to use the Nexus S drivers. Google search for them and you'll get the directions for installing them in the android sdk.
So should I expect this again if I reflash the recent CM7 after I get this back to stock?
And can I say that getting anything to work on Win7 x64 is becoming a supreme pain? After installing Google SDK, and walking the update drivers walk, still nothing.

If you haven't installed the correct drivers yet, then yes.

The CM7/MIUI kernel is built from a different phone (Nexus), so different drivers are needed (although I hear the Samsung drivers do work on 32-bit Windows). I believe it's the "Google USB Driver Package" that you're looking for in the Android SDK that needs installing (worked for me, anyway). It should install the correct drivers.

While you're there, you can also install the "Platform-tools" to install the ADB tools if you wish to use them later, or you can just use QtADB.

Installed those drivers too, still unrecognized device.
