[Q] Need assistance making sure Fire 2 is ready to return to Amazon

Hi Guys:

I'm going to be making a warranty return to Amazon (I'm having charging port failure) and my new Fire 2 is set to arrive tomorrow. I am basically just seeking assistance to make sure that the existing Fire is not going to garner any unnecessary attention (or charges to my credit card!) when I ship it back.

I have CM installed on the Fire, but with the aid of a Factory/FastBoot cable, got it back to stock, which I then upgraded to the last update. While the lockscreen is again showing ads, I have no wallpaper, which doesn't seem like it should be the case. Root definitely didn't persist through these updates, for which I'm grateful.

My additional issue is that my laptop (running Win7 x64) is not recognizing the Fire2 as an ADB device now that it's no longer on CM. I've tried installing the drivers via the SDK, I've tried installing them via the First Aide utility - they all error out.

I've read suggestions about 'manually installing' the drivers but am not sure how to do so - do I need to copy/paste the folders that were extracted to my D:/Programs Filesx86/Amazon.com (etc) folder elsewhere?

Any thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
