I realize there is a search feature, and I realize there are millions of guides out there, and I have read through the vast majority that I could find. I am no stranger to reading through these forums, and updating, rooting, flashing, and all that jazz.
However, it has been a while since I updated so I am only on 1.8.3, rooted, and locked. It seems everything I could find assumes that you are already on 2.3.4, or describe methods which later on were found could potentially brick your phone if you were to flash using RSDlite
So my question is: how do I safely get to latest firmware unlocked (or specifically NottachTrix4G Latest Version) while bypassing all the bs bricking associated with 1.8.3
Here is what I think, and please correct me if I am wrong:
1) unlock using this guy: Automatic bootloader Unlock http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1182871&highlight=4+5+141
(or should be using Pudding instead?? I was concerned since that used RSDlite)
2) upgrade to 2.3.4 using this guy: http://briefmobile.com/download-android-2-3-4-gingerbread-for-motorola-atrix-4g
(or should I go straight to step 3?? and get the latest version through NottachTrix4G?)

Does this sound correct? Are there any missing steps? I was also wondering how to have the cleanest possible install as I am willing to wipe everything on my phone. Any input would be much appreciated and thanked appropriately
