I am hoping someone here can help. I have the OG Samsung Captivate. I upgraded to the latest OS (stock rom) & the phone is rooted. I did all this well over 2 months ago. Everything has worked fine except today. I went to make a call and it rebooted on me. After the reboot it locks up while scanning media files. I do not have an extra SD card installed. If I try and reboot it again after the lockup I get the android system recovery screen. Below is what is shows.

__ Copy media files...
Successfully copied media files.

# Manual Mode #

__ Appling Multi-CSC...
Installing Multi_CSC
Applied the CSC-code 'ATT'.
Successfully applied multi-CSC.

I have no idea why it is doing this. If I try to reboot it keeps doing the same thing. On the nd scanning of media files it locks up. Sceen will not dim, buttons are not responsive.

Is there an OTA update that ATT pushed somehow? Did my phone brick without me knowing it? Did it just up and die?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I did some googling because I have no idea what that message means and after doing some reading I am no closer to telling you what that recovery text means. However, I did read a couple that said doing a factory reset from recovery did in fact allow them to reboot.

That being said since you are rooted there should be a way in recovery to mount your internal SD card to your PC. If you don't do it regularly I would mount the SD and backup anything on there thats important to you. I would then suggest you do a factory reset from recovery and see if that allows you to boot.

If all else fails I suggest using a one-click back to stock which will completely wipe and reinstall the software.

That link will take you to the one-click thread. Third post has the latest stock software.
