Has anyone tried to send in their tablet/dock for repair at Asus service center? Any success with that? I just contacted them online, and the guy says to send it in for repair if they are under warranty. But then I will have to pay the shipping cost...
I have sent mine in. Why should you pay the shipping cost? I'm not.

No they send a courier to come and collect it. DHL in my case. Do the RMA on line and it is all explained.
Seriously? That's amazing that they would do that. Must be different here in Canada then.. the guy told me to send it to them, and told me shipping will be on my part-.- Sigh.... I'll try to ask them about that again.

Where do you live in Canada? Although I live in the UK they sent the tablet to Czech - hardly close. Ask them to pick it up. It's not your fault it's broken.

Amazon US appear to be shipping fixed dock now

I don't know if I got lucky or not, but after having received a bad dock (From Amazon) that I returned, I just ordered a new one two days ago again from Amazon and so far it hasn't had any problems with disconnects. The manufacture date is 11.2013

Like I said, I may have just gotten lucky, but if you've been holding out I think now might be a good time to try.

With the fixed dock and the speedy TF701 I am very pleased. :highfive:

Glad I read this thread. I am planning on picking up a dock today and I'll be bringing my tablet in to test before walking out of the store with it. I'll only purchase if it is a Nov build date and I'll bring my USB 3.0 stick to test. Will report back later.

No luck. Both locations I visited only had docks with 10 / 2013 build dates.

Maybe I'll try my luck on Amazon or Ebay.

I've bought the tablet and keyboard in the same box.. Anyhow the box had 11.2013 so I guess it applies for both tablet and keyboard.
I'm experiencing an issue with the USB 3 on keyboard - When I connect it, the trackpad getting disabled. And even if I disconnect the USB, it's still not responding, only a full re-mount of the dock return the trackpad.
Have anyone had similar issue?

EDIT: USB 2 seems to work flawless(don't have too many USB 2 sticks\flash drives to test on..). And, if I connect USB 3 and then remount the tablet to dock, both USB and trackpad is working.

BIG Problem with 11/13 Dock

I don't have any "wiggle" issues with my dock from Amazon. However, I do have another MAJOR issue. I never was able to try it out with with other firmware versions (only the latest for both the tablet and dock), so I don't know if this is a new issue or not. Whenever the tablet reaches a certain percentage, the dock will automatically start charging it. Once this process starts, it does not stop until the dock is completely dead. I wouldn't consider that an issue if not for the fact that the dock DISCONNECTS when its battery goes dead. This is hugely annoying and a major oversight by Asus (really, this company has the worst quality control of any electronics brand I buy - issues on every single device I've ever bought from them). Redocking the tablet will briefly reconnect the dock, but only for a second before it dies again. Only plugging the charger into the dock and redocking the tablet allows continued use.

I have encountered a workaround for the issue. If I disconnect the dock while it is in the process of charging the tablet and redock it, this will delay the issue a bit.

I somehow doubt this is a hardware issue and would bet on it being a software/firmware issue, so I am reluctant to return it to Amazon.

So is anyone else having this issue (really, how could I be the only one)? Replies would be greatly appreciated. If you're running the latest firmware versions available without issue, I would also like to know. Thanks!

What firmware are you on? I've not noticed this problem but not used my dock for a week or so. Works ok on the new firmware afaik.

Does anyone have a dock with a Mfg Date of Oct 2013 and isn't having problems?

I really want to pick up the keyboard dock, but all the suppliers around me only sell docks dated Oct 2013. No one has a Nov 2013 dock.

maybe you have some bad luck this is my 3rd asus first 2 being laptops
i dont have dock issues but i do have software reboots sometimes

was hoping to get 4.3 but it seems asus forgot they sell a jp sku version ............

anyway my dock is 0 % right now and tab 32% and its typing no issues, i can see though from batt monitor that the drain is more than normal..

perhaps you do have a connectivity issue.

are you running in power saver mode? if so try disabling.

also try untick the dock battery saving mode in setting > asus customiz see if it changes.

it could very well be a new issue with a 4.3 firmware. or a faulty connection and the dock cant draw power through the connector.

also when it stops working

check settings > input > hardware keyboard is set to on
alternatively when trying to type pull down the system tray select input method and set hardware keyboard on

I've always had power saving mode turned off. Interestingly, turning the physical keyboard off in settings doesn't actually turn it off for me. It just has it continue working while also having the on-screen keyboard pop up (can anyone on the latest 10.26 firmware support whether this is a wide-spread issue???). But yeah, the dock completely disconnects when it turns off from a dead battery; I'm talking the mouse and USB port too.

I'm running the latest 10.26.1.18 firmware. I think the tablet also automatically flashed the dock right away (know where its firmware version is listed by chance?; all I can find is this number under hardware and I'm not sure if that is a hardware revision or what: PAD-EC32T-0205). Asus didn't have anything in support for reflashing the dock, unfortunately. I'm going to look into downgrading to 4.2.2 or the slightly older 4.3 version, if possible, before I send it back. If I do just return it to Amazon, I'm definitely going to keep the tablet offline when I connect the replacement (with the old firmware) so I can test that out and see if a firmware update breaks it again.

Still, I'm stumped why not a single other person has has mentioned having this issue (since I so strongly suspect it being a software/firmware bug and we all know they've had some pretty obvious bugs slip through on this model). If I don't get anything figured out in the next few days or so I'll just return it. I really hope it isn't the tablet port that is somehow misbehaving since I already had to get it replaced due to an improperly bonded screen (same exact issue I had on my first Nexus 7 . . . great QC as usual Asus . . .).

I'm running the latest 10.26.1.18 firmware. Did your dock automatically get flashed by your tablet at some point? Mine did immediately, so I suspect that may have something to do with it.

Amazon is still shipping 2013.10 docks in the US. Ordered from Amazon December 31st and just received a 2013.10 tablet and dock today. I don't appear to have any connection issues as of yet but the flex is unreal. Sending the dock back in hopes of getting one of the later units.

Just got confirmation that Asus has repaired my dock for the flex in the hinge and have shipped it back to me today - so will recieve it in 2 days so let's see what they did to fix it (or if they have just given me a new batch one)
