[Q] NexusLouder Testers.

If anything I've been working on purely all nexus devices to improve the way users listen to their device and music.
I just wanted to know if anyone can be kind enough to let me know how the N10 fares in general with it's audio quality and what audio chipset does it run.

Ofcourse I've created a test dump for the N10 but I don't know anyone on my side who has an N10. I would like someone to test it since this is the best place to refer to. Rest assured, bootloop free.

In my opinion, it's pretty mediocre. It definitely didn't sound louder to me than the iPad, despite having Stereo out. Disappointing, really.

I can barely hear some movies on the DICE player and I don't know what's causing it. Some other movies are fine.

Hmm it does actually, as usual the audio chipset being the one they cut down to make it cheaper.

Yeah it seems majority of the Nexus devices suffer this. Infact all at this rate, considering the Nexus S was to involved without Voodoo. :crying:

I think with these newer devicesthe only way to get respectable sound is with Bluetooth or wired external speakers.
I love my ICS phone and listened to the Nexus 7 - great devices. But audio is weak.

What bothers me about the Nexus 10 audio is the speakers.
Even as a kid nothing screamed snake oil to me more than huge grills that hid tiny speaker cones.
That's what you get with Nexus 10 as well.
Behind each grill is one tiny speaker radiator at the top of the grill.
The rest of the long speaker grill is just for looks (or sales)

I think it sounds fine. The speakers on it are actually descent and I have nice headphones so that works fine for me as well.

I personally think the Nexus 10 sounds pretty good with headphones. I believe it has a Wolfson WM1811 chip.

I have it plugged in with an ATH-m50 and a Fiio E5. Tweaked with the 10-band equalizer from Poweramp, and it sounded pretty good. It's certainly not the best I've listened to (the Cowon S9 sounds better still), but it's good enough to replace my S9 simply because the Nexus is much more hassle free in general.

The sound is definitely missing something though. Not exactly sure what it is.

I might suggest you guys follow Misledz! I use his mod on both a GNex & N7. Fantastic. I consider it a must have. Makes anything a pure joy to listen to.

To me the speakers on it are the best I've heard from any tablet since its front facing and it kinda has a slight surround sound effect since there is one speaker on each side of the tablet. Also the volume is loud enough to where nobody should have a problem hearing it and if you do get a hearing aid. The volume isn't so loud you can go deaf but its loud enough to where everyone in the room should be able to hear it.

The speakers sound pretty good with a bit of EQ. CyanogenMod's DSPManager is perfect for this since you can selectively EQ only the speakers.

Headphone quality is even better. Much, much better than the Galaxy Nexus and on par with some of the best Android devices.

I'm no audiophile, but the Nexus 10 sounds pretty amazing, compared to the other devices and equipment I've used previously anyway.

I like natural-sounding audio without any DSP enhancements like Bass Boost and whatnot

Well it's got quite the chipset. But I'm sure they sacrificed something, Nexus devices usually sacrifice one thing. Audio, or hardware or something.

Maybe the screen? While the resolution is there, the screen itself isn't top-tier beautiful.

I've read here somewhere that the microphone isn't amazing quality.

I wouldn't be surprised if the N10 sound can be improved, but I was actually very pleasantly surprised listening to music, movies, etc on mine, as the sound blows away any other tablet I've used to date, blows away my 15" ASUS laptop (3 different models in our house, none of which sound as good as the stock N10). I've seen a few people complain that the size of the speaker slots is misleading, and somehow implies that the speakers are larger than they really are, as can be seen in tear-down photos. I haven't done any serious homework into this -- but I'm wondering if the elongated speaker grills actually server as vents, effectively turning the housing into a slot-vented speaker cabinet.

Tweaks to improve the sound, since as you said the hardware is pretty good, louder is one thing if its needed, else controlled loudness is fine. In terms of libset, voltage increase is pushing it sounds alot more dangerous and doubt it will be tested :victory:
