Hi,

There seems to be a bug that causes the IMEI to disappear after turning on encryption. A quick google search suggests other are having this problem but there is no solution.

I'm running CM10.2 stable so I'm not sure if this happens on stock or not.

Removing encryption brings back everything as it should be.

Any ideas on what may cause this and things I could try?

Thanks.

I tried various roms (cm 10.1.2, cm10.2, omni (4.4.2)) and the same problem persists, the baseband looks OK but no IMEI and no network at all.

it's the standard android encryption in settings -> security -> encrypt phone.

I find it extremely strange how nobody around here is using encryption, especially people with an unlocked bootloader.
as far as i know this encryption shouldn't affect on the IMEI... maybe you got other problem related!

my case i have baseband unknown and imei unknown too

so my case is more harder than urs.. i guess!

Normally it doesn't, I've used encryption on many devices without any issues.
The baseband shows correctly when encrypted but no imei and no connection.

Simply removing the encryption (formatting data) brings back the imei and network connection.

Extremely strange..

Signal strength: 2147483647 dBm 255 asu (wtf?)
I also have this signal strength. the number is actually 2^31−1 (maximum integer for 32bit computing) but in my case, IMEI is unknown (the baseband shows correctly though).

If you find a solution, please share, thanks.
