I've been experimenting with various roms, and one of the behaviors that really has be perplexed is the automatic download of your previous apps from the market as soon as you agree to the market conditions. Some ROMs do this, while others do not automatically download any of your old apps, leaving you to manually do it over again. What determines this behavior and can I influence it?

Thanks

Hi,

When you sign up to the market,I'm sure there is something at the bottom of the page which enable you to sync or not.

Is this old market, new market, or both? Because it seems to work better with the new market (but that has the cache issues).
Hi,

Sorry,I was not clear.
When you are setting up your phone on the first boot, and sign in to your Google account, there is an option to sync or not.

IIRC, you are talkinga bout the option to sync my accounts? I definately select that one, as I do get immediate gmail & contacts syncing out of the box. But it seems as though the market is a different beast (as it does not show up under any of the subheads of the accounts & sync menu).

So I talked to a friend today, and after switching to a new ROM, I just noticed that on the android market webpage, my phone is identifying itself slightly differently than it did before. I believe that this has something to do with it, with the ROM providing some sort of additional identification which the market uses for IDing a phone.
