If you are on Gingerbread like I am, try this:

Hello everyone! I just got my HTC Sensation 4G, and I really want to root it. The problem is, this phone is so much more complex than my Optimus V and there are many different methods to rooting this phone. So if anyone has the time, can you give me a quick run down on how to flash a ROM and which way is the easiest way to root? To me it seems like the Super Utility is the easiest, but VipeR's method is more in depth.

PS: I am currently on Sense 3.0 with Android 2.3.4, the kernal version is 2.6.35.13. I want to flash Bruce's CM10 or possibly the latest MIUI JB. TWRP 2.3 seems like a good recovery, but I see a lot of people using 4EXT, so which would work better?

Thanks in advance!
I am using HTCdev's method here and I have not been experiencing headaches because of it
Click here to go to HTCdev

I started with CWM for my recovery, but later installed 4EXT, it is a little more organised in my opinion and it will allow you to flash the boot.img without an S-Off, but if you run into problems you can always use the fastboot utility you will download with the HTCdev method to manually flash the boot.img, you will find boot.img in the zip file you want to flash
Also, don't forget, fastboot lets you run your recovery before flashing it, so make sure you do backups, that way if you run into any hardware issues HTC will be able to assist you a little easier

Alright guys, I got it rooted and up to speed! I used the Cyanogen Mod guide, as it was easier to follow than VipeR's, updated the firmware to 3.3, and now I'm on Frankinstine's AOKP Jelly Bean. S-Off well on GB was super easy, all I did was plug it in and let Revolutionary do its thing. Next stop, TWRP 2.3 so I have OTA Support for AOKP!

put this PG58IMG.zip on your sd card, boot into recovery,it will automatically check & update straight away, follow instructions(really easy),then turn off your phone, remove your sd card and DELETE the pg58img.zip or else it will do the same process everytime you turn your phone on lol............your phone will wake up s-off with a new hboot version, enjoy
