Hey guys - current Note 2 owner with cm12 (love it!)

I'm thinking of getting into the tablet world, and naturally I would like to stay with the note line. With the release of cm12 and finding some great deals on lightly used tablets via amazon, I'm faced with the choice of the original note 10.1 or the 2014. I know the 2014 has better specs, but is it worth it? I definitely want the spen, and am willing to do some work arounds to get things to work - root, recovery, rom flash and using various apks are what I expect to do. I plan to use the tablet for light gaming, videos, some graphic work - and basic tablet operations (web surfing, pdf reading).
I found like a like new 10.1 tablet for $200, and same condition 2014 for $330.

If you were in my boat, which would you chose?

10.1 2014 no question (And not just because I own one). The tablet is over a year old and still runs any game from the play store at max graphics with good framerates. The battery and screen are way better as well (things that matter most on any tablet). Plus there are several AOSP ROMS avaliable for the 2014 edition if stock android is your thing. Without a doubt get the 2014 model. You won't regret it.

I have a Note 10.1 2014 P600, and the battery is a deception for me (same thing with my brother who have a P605). I think You have to choose an other tablet with a better battery.

Thanks for your input - that's the first I've heard of battery problems. How old is your battery? Have you tried apps like Greenify?
