Well for anyone in Florida be prepared to not have this one up option. I went in the store and the guy didn't realize I was trying to one up. Told me my total was crazy high. But Florida won't offer this Pam till that legal tape is handled.

I thought this was a good deal until they asked for your old advice up front to start this program. I still gave in after some serious thought. I had the s3 and was thinking about keeping it for a backup device/gym mp3 player but whatever. I don't have $350 to drop on a new phone and my upgrade isn't until January either. This phone is amazing so I'm happy.

Be prepared to wait if you're getting the Note 3 on the One Up program! I was the only customer in the store and had to wait 1.5 hours for them to finally get it to go through for me! They even called Sprint and confirmed that everyone is having problems with it this morning. They told me that no over else has got it to work yet, but I was willing to wait all day, lol. Just be patient though, they eventually got it for me!!

Haha I had to wait also. My store was only 3 miles from my house so I just ran home and thru the stock s3 ROM in it because I had to hand it over (that really sucks) to start the one up program. I'm not far outside of DC where are you from? That's crazy how sprints entire network can fail like that doesn't make sprint look so good.

What, you had to trade in your current device to get started in the One Up program!!!??? I didn't have to give them anything except $49 for taxes on the retail price, that's it!! I was getting mixed answers when calling both local stores and calling 611. Thursday I called 611 and asked again. The rep told me I did NOT have to trade in my current device! I had her verify that with her manager, and then also had her put a note on my account saying that I did NOT have to trade in my current phone!! How long ago did you get your last upgrade, or a better question I guess, when were you eligible for a normal upgrade?
Also, I believe the wait/delay was only for customers buying the Note 3 AND also getting enrolled in the One Up program for the first time. Buying at retail, or paying $350 for a normal upgrade didn't cause any issues or delays. It was just the combination of a new phone and a new plan, both being applied for the first time.

As for location, I'm about 30 minutes west of downtown Atlanta, Georgia. The Sprint store in my city isn't a corporate store, so I had to go the opposite way to my neighboring city because that store is corporate. They're both about the same distance, so it didn't matter to me. To do the One Up program, it has to be a corporate store (for anyone who didn't know). Hopefully by this time next year the One Up program will be available through all of Sprint's locations, even my phone. I've been upgrading at least once a year for about 5 years already, so the One Up program will actually be a cheaper route for me! It's crazy they're currently doing 0 down for the One Up program too!!! Also very cool that they discount your bill $15 every month, that takes care of some of your monthly payment for the phone!!

Yep had to give it back. They said if you have had your device for over 20 months then you didn't have to give it back. I just got the s3 March 2013 so I was screwed. They gave me the run around like crazy at one of the stores I went to. She sided with me and told me to go home and get ANY old device and I could use that as the trade in. So I went home got an old Nextel phone and went back to the store. Then the manager told me an auditor just came by the store and stopped that from happening making me give back the device currently on my phone line. Believe me I had a horrible experience yesterday and almost blew up on multiple sprint employees. What pissed me off originally was that no one knew you had to give back my current phone until the note 3 came out. Sprint is the most out of date and "ghetto" wireless network in my book. If I didn't have LTE in my area and Sprint didn't have unlimited data I would of left a loooong time ago.

You have to give them your device if its still under contract. Thats how you get out of your contract and able to get into the One Up program. Instead of trading my Note 2 i opened up a new line and will put a cheaper device on that line so i can sell my note 2. Also don't know if you are aware, the $15 month want kick in for 60 days.

Yea the part that would of pissed me off is the manager lying. Don't tell me to go home and get another phone then decide to change your mind and pretend this so called auditor came to the store. You could of actually activated the old device you're speaking of on the line that your s3 is on. When you activate another phone on the same line that clears the ESN for whatever you had on there. Making it eligible for resale.

I was still in contract too. I pre-ordered the Evo LTE, which didn't come in until the first of June. I wasn't eligible for a normal upgrade until 1-1-14. I didn't have the Evo LTE on my line, but that didn't matter according to the reps who told me I would have to trade in my phone. I pre-ordered a black Evo LTE, then bought a white Evo LTE when it was released, then bought a white Note 2 a few months ago. I was told I wouldn't have to trade in my Note 2 or white Evo LTE, but would have to trade in my black Evo LTE. I asked if I could put my Evo 3D back in my line and trade it in, but they said I had to trade in the last device purchased at contract price. Like I said though, finally after a lot of talking, they agreed to let me start the One Up program without trading in any of my phones! I couldn't be happier to get my white Note 3 without giving them any of my phones, and only paying $49 for taxes!!

Yea, I heard the $15 One Up discount takes 2 months before it kicks in. That's fine with me though. The fact that they give me ANY discount while on the One Up program is just icing on the cake in my eyes!!

Oh i already thought of that and asked her plus it would of been a pain. Remember anytime you activate a device= $36 activation fee. Also she told me if I was to do that it would restart the 20+ month rule and I still couldn't do the one up program. I asked her that as well. I said So in the last 30 minutes when I went to get the old Nextel some auditor came in and stopped this? I still thought she was lieing until I called a different store and that stores manager confirmed an auditor went around my whole area to stop this from happening. Atleast she was straight up with me.

Activation fee is for activating a new line of service only. You could of activated another phone and traded it in and qualified for 1 up. Typical sprint customer service "far from perfect" .

EDIT: Used phones are not charged. That is due to the fact that the phone has already been activated on the network therefore we do not have to do it again. Evidently upgrade activations occur on sprint network. That sucks all though i never had one.

Well maybe but not at that store. What I told you is what she told me. I was eligible for an upgrade 1/1/14 and did the one up and they told me I will get a $36 activation charge, this isn't correct either?

Just edited my post. After further reading evidently sprint charges upgrade fee same as activation fee. If i see this $36 show up on my bill i will just call and tell them i wasn't notified. I never had to pay one before. I blame our confusion on Sprint lol The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing.

Haha I used to also and used to work like a charm. My wife just got her first Smart phone the Kyocera Torque I purchased it from WireFly and told Sprint they never talked about an activation fee and Sprint just kept saying sorry Waiving that fee is no longer an option I guess they cracked that whip on they employees on the phone and stopped. Hell I'll try anyway haha.

As far as device you need to trade in it can be an old phone. I wasnt about to give up my note 2 so i put my old evo 4g on my account 10 minutes before i went in for the note 3.

This apparently was the case (Atleast in my area) until sprint caught on. I called multiple stores and they all said it has to be the current phone on the account which is getting the upgrade.

I was approved for the onbe up program monday, so I added an htc one to my account and made sure I was also able to use the one up on friday for the release of the note 3, the confirmed I could do that. Friday rolls around, they tell me I had to trade in my current galaxy s3. The rep told me to just get a junk sprint phone and switch it to avoid giving up my s3. Got a cheap phone, switched it and went to sprint yet again. I get there, they then tell me Im no longer eligable for another one up. Which, just 2 hours before, I was eligable. Then Im told I would have to trade my s3 in regardless what was currently tied to the number. So, head to sprint today to figure stuff out. Turns out I was never eligable for a one up in the first place (due to sprint changing the policies over the first few days of its initial release). So, 15 hours total at sprint between today and yesterday, I now have a note 3 but had to give up the htc one. Moral of the story, they're catching on and changing the policy around without store employees knowing whats going on.

I looked at every blog and cant find a straight answer. So if I am due for a phone upgrade...With Sprint one up plan i can get the note 3 for 0 down "no money upfront" and makes payments each bill cycle? At the end of owning the phone 1 yr i can do get another phone again with 0 down?
So I went through with the one up plan. Basically it's unlimited everything and it's a one year upgrade plan, BUT you have to turn in your note 3 to them when you upgrade unless you wait two years and then you can keep your note 3 even after you upgrade. It seems to me like your basically leasing the phone unless you keep it for two years. I paid $389 for my note 3 with a early upgrade, I had to give them my s3 but I didnt want to do that so I told them I broke it and threw it away, but no matter what they need a phone back from you. I got the cheapest sprint phone I could find, which was a trio that my friend gave me and activated it and traded that phone in.

Sources:
That's what my friend told me and she works at Sprint...Hope this helped

If the one up device is paid for in one year you keep it and would start over with a new device. If you're still paying you would turn it in. If the one up device is deactivated for 30 days the remaining balance in due the on the next bill.

I can confirm after one year the remaining balance of your phone and the phone itself cancels out. its in 2.1 to 2.3 section of the fine print on the one up program it's called the give back phone options. When ur 12 months is up you can trade in ur phone for a new phone and your remaining balance of payments will be null and void but you must have the current phone to turn in or payoff the remaining balance. Please pass this on as of Oct 10 one up will require down payment the no down payment is for a limited time only
