I've had my N12 for three months and have only used it on Lollipop. The screen flickered under certain lighting conditions when auto-brightness would lower the brightness in response to changing lighting conditions. I don't know if that's the same issue everyone else is/was facing. Based on how it occurred I thought it was a graphics driver or sensor issue. It was. I upgraded yesterday to the latest European (OXX) ROM and the flickering went away. So you might want to Odin upgrade your N12 with the latest ROM before performing surgery on it and voiding your warranty.

Try pressing the back of the note pro over the Samsung logo I have found that it works(did for me) it's a loose battery connector issue samsung cheap build, I know anyway if you have tried that and are frustrated of touching the Samsung logo again and again as the issue reappears then I suggest pull the back cover (use youtube) and unplug battery connector and plug it back again if you are unsure then just push battery connector downwards a little. I have tried all and first my note pro used to flicker at 46% battery level now hasn't flickered once till even 6% battery level moreover I can also say that battery life and performance has dramatically in proved as well!!!( By the way used geek bench and an tutu to compare) Hope it helps!! 'cause it sure did for me!!

If you don't know how to solder, a silver conductive epoxy might work to fix this cracked battery connector. But re solder still is the best fix and it takes only under 5 to 10 minutes.

i created this video of best to my knowledge...

youtube.com/watch?v=CvxbVft69Kg&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Hi all,

After reading all posts found on the Web about this issue, I tried everything :
- upgrade to 5.1
- change settings as recommended

But after all, nothing worked.
I got a Note Pro 12.2 since 2 years now and just a few days after end of warranty, I started to get the flickering issue.
Like others, the tablet works perfectly until it reaches under 80% of battery.

If I use an application that do not require high CPU or GPU (like comics reader or watching a movie), the tablet can work correctly without flickering (and rebooting).
But if I'm under 20% of battery, I got full issues and reboots.
If I use a game (clash of clan or others), I got immediatly the flickering issue if I'm under 80% of battery.
And if I plug the battery to power, no problem at all, I can play of do anything without fickering.

I saw with these posts that it would be a hardware issue so I would take a chance and try by myself to correct it.
So I watched videos that explain how to open, then I would have a look about the recommandation to install piece of plastic to raise up motherboard.
But video is not available anymore and I don't understand where to install the piece of plastic.
I saw " install a thin plastic shim under the mother board to the right of the battery connector" but I don't really understand how and where ?

Since I opened my tablet, to disconnect and reconnect cables (battery, LCD and Wifi), my tablet works perfectly !
I could do a full charge, and use the tablet with games until the tablet had no power without any flickering or others issues.
But I would like to be sure by installing the piece of plastic.

Is there anyone that still have the video of peterjo78 ?
Of would it be possible to get a picture that shows where the piece of plastic should be installed ?

Thanks in advance.

It's a hardware problem: cracked battery connector 's solder joints. Nothing is related to software.
Samsung do the same thing to fix this issue:
1- Re solder battery connector ( black, male soldered to mainboard )
2- Fix the female, white battery connector ( white with 6 wires )
I already posted how to fix these battery connectors and I won't repeat here.
You should read the thread " Flickering Screen ", only the last few pages. other pages just guessing solutions... like raising the mainboard. I cannot
understand why people don't read and still looking for this deleted video when the poster did it and didn't understand why the tablet stopped flickering.

Hello. After some reading and testing of one Samsung SM-T900 I found the same thing as Beut says - cracked soldering on the connector. I resoldered all the pins and now since last 10 hours of testing it it is OK. No restarts, no flickering on the screen.
Posting picture from my microscope of the problem before resoldering.
Regards

Updating did not help for me, also tried other original firmwares. I only experienced flickering under 50% battery and full resolution till 70% resolution. Also flipcovermagnet did not work. Today I returned mine for repair. I triggered Knox 1 time, Samsung will only repair the tablet one time for that.
I know this is a very old POST, but I have a Note 12.2 and i love it...no problems I bought one for my wife on EBAY...the idiot sent a TAB 12.2 and wont refund without me paying a restocking fee of $100!!! So, we kept it...now 2 weeks later it strobes/flickers under 50% battery when unplugged...I found the main culprit for this issue on 99% of the tabs is the battery cables need soldering! Theres another $100!!! I wish Samsung would do a better job!!!! What was your fix if you dont mind me asking????

Don't send to Samsung as you will regret it. They solder battery cables directly to the battery connector, it will solve the problem of loose connection but create problem afterward to users as they have no way to replace the battery without removing the solders

You can bring to any repair shops where they can do the rework, they don't necessarily know how to repair a tablet.
The rework only takes 5 to 10 minutes, all you need is removing the back cover and disconnect the battery, they can do
the rework from the top without removing the mainboard. The battery connector has to be resoldered to fix hairline cracks from solder joints. The cables don't need to solder directly to the battery connector as the way Samsung do, you only need to adjust the tip of cables closer to make firmly contact to pins of battery connector. You need a magnified glass and a thin knife to make this fix. Many people fix the flickering screen by a new battery, but actually they don't know they throw away a working battery which only needs to adjust the tips of cable from the white battery connector.

Note pro screen flickering! Help! !!!

I have purchased 2 note pro tablets, about 5 months apart, and both of them have screen flickering issues. I have sent them both in to Samsung repair center 3 times, and all 3 times received the tablets back unfixed. Apparently they do not even turn on the tablet and look at the screen, I guess they hook it up to a diagnostic machine, and that is not acknowledging the problem. I love my note pro tablet, and use it for work, but I'm getting very frustated with Samsung. I have been reading up on this issue on here, and it is apparently caused by battery connectors being cracked. I would appreciate any info on what to tell samsung the problem is to ensure that they solder the battery connectors.

Samsung turns around time policy is 1 day and Samsung repair centers, who are contractors, only allow techs spending one hour for each tablet in order to make profit.
They don't hook up to a diagnostic machine but techs have only one hour to complete a repair, that's reason they cannot troubleshoot correctly to this particular problem which requires a tablet runs low on battery to see the flickering screen. Believe me or not, Samsung contractors are the lowest bid winners and they usually hire low skill techs to do the repair in order to make profit, so no wonder they make many second or third returns. However, you should contact Samsung and demand to speak with upper level personnel, a tablet repair more than 3 times, they should send your a new replacement, this policy applies to any company.
I don't know which center you sent to repair, they should know how to fix this issue which is very common in this tablet and Samsung is well aware where is the source of problem. You should have all RMA numbers in your record when speaking with upper management person, don't bother to speak with a low level CSRs. If you like , file a complaint with BBB. Trust me, when BBB is involved, Samsung will immediately send you a new tablet with no question ask if you're still under warranty.
Or this one
https://www.usa.gov/consumer-complaints#item-35997
I bought a tablet from EBay, FedEx tracking showed it delivered but I didn't get it, probably it's stolen, EBay support the seller for not refund. After filing a consumer complaint and sent the receipt to EBay, I immediately got the refund.

Thanks so much for comment. The only thing I'm worried about getting a new tablet, is that it will start doing the same thing. In your opinion should I try to send them in one more time to try to get battery soldered or get a replacement ? Thanks again .

This is a simple fix for who knows how to solder, however if you want to repair again, be specific in your instructions : fix battery connectors and tell them: " Do not solder two connectors together ".
See the picture in my previous post, a tablet previous repaired from a Repair center , they solder battery cables directly to the connector on main board.
A new tablet gradually will have the same problem, I wonder where did you send your tablet, Texas or California ? These incompetent techs should know how to fix these common problems, well known for this tablet

They solder battery cables( 2 positive, 2 negative ) to battery connector on main board to avoid loose connection and to save the cost of new battery.
In case the battery is dead, you have no way to take out the battery without removing the solders. Someone had no idea two connectors are soldered together, damage the connector and main board while removing the battery cables
There are two sources causing flickering screen:
1- Cracked battery connector on main board.
2- Battery cables has loose connection to connector on main board.
Repair centers will fix both: re solder battery connector, solder battery cables directly to battery connector on main board.
However, there is no need to solder battery cables directly to battery connector, I fix the loose connection by adjusting the opening of cable closer

Or using Silver Conductive glue, this one is available on Ebay or Amazon, under $5 . However, you have clean up the glue between terminals, otherwise you will experience overheat or low temperature problem due to short circuit.

In this white battery connector, unknown to many users the cables can slightly move right or left, this is when you have intermittent connection

Repair Center fix this issue by soldering directly positive and negative cables to pins of battery connector on main board

They fix the issue of loose connection but average users will face problem of replacing battery as they need to de solder the battery cables.
Then they need to send back to Samsung for a simple repair: replace the battery.
Here is the result when you want to remove the battery, the connector is completely damaged due to the heat

It's been now 6 month since I opened my tablet for the first time.

As I said in a previous post : opening the tablet, unplug en replug battery solved me the issue.
But it worked for a month (which is better than nothing). After a month, flickering started again.

So I opened it once again and unplug/replug battery : it worked for some weeks again.
And I do that everymonth.

But 2 month ago, I decided to change battery (26$) and since I did that, no flickering.

I believe it won't last because the real cause is, as mentionned : you need to solder the battery connectors.
The hardest part for me is to find someone who will do that. I contacted many repair center and no one has balls to do that (if I had tools I would do that by myself).

DON'T HESITATE TO OPEN and unplug/replug, it's easy, and you can work with your tablet while waiting for repairing....

What do you have to do to make the connectors tighter? I have it open at the moment and I can see the connectors and they look pretty close together but I am willing to try to make them get even closer before spending the money to get a new battery. I have a hobby knife so it is pretty thin and also have a magnifying glass.

You can use silver conductive glue to fix the loose battery cables, however this conductive glue cannot use as alternative to fix the cracks of battery connector on mainboard
