[Q] Odim Brick?

I'm right now trying to instal Froyo on my Captivate so I followed this thread I897UCJI6 - FROYO - for real (sorry I cannot post links)
My phone is on that screen with the android and a shovel inside a yellow triangle, it looks ok and says "downloading, do not turn off target" but since I connected the usb nothing changed (40 min) and when I press Start Odim just say
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 0)
Now I'm scared I can brick the phone if I remove the cable or turn off, so my question is: Is it normal to take 40-45 min to work? and this message saying 0 succeed / 0 failed does that means that nothing happen so I can unplug e turn on my phone?
Can anyone tell me other way to install Froyo on my Captivate? I really want flash, and if they don't update until january I will back to Brazil stuck with 2.1

Did you have Odin running before you put it into download mode? It should take less than ten minutes to flash. I've read that you should be able to just take out the battery but I've never done it myself so idk if I'd recommend it.

Edit:
If you have root download Rom Manager and install CWM. Backup your internal sd card, go to the dev section download Cognition v2.4, copy the zip file to the root of your internal sd card, remove your sim and external sd card and use Rom Manager to install Cognition.

Unplug it.
Pull battery.
Close odin
Restart odin.
Replace battery.
Holding vol up and down, plug usb cable in.
Wait for yellow triangle again and for odin to show com port (yellow)
Release vol buttons.
Click start.

Should show progress bars on phone and in odin.

If you unplug your phone it will be stuck in download mode forever and bricked.
