[Q] Official ACER Update interrupted.

Hi Guys,

a friend of mine started an update and "canceld" it accidentaly by shutting down the device.

now the device is booting up, but its not reacting. means i cant unlock the device or do anything else.

now i need your help to bring this baby back to life.

any suggestion is rly appreciated.

Try this:
- download acer stock Rom for the device found here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113878
- unzip file and copy update.zip to external sd, root folder
- Boot Iconia tab in recovery Mode (press and hold volume down + power button)
- wait and pray...
- tab should reboot

Actually, most of the "update.zip" files, are indeed full versions of a specific ComGen Rom. With the exception of maintenance updates.

ex: You fubar your current ComGen1 OS. You run a ComGen2 update.zip. Result: a full ComGen2 OS.

Basically, the ComGen's are more or less regional specific. Language support, sometimes some GPS changes for more region specific GPS.

ComGen1 is Europe
ComGen2 North America
TMPL is East Europe
ATT - Sim Locked for the 501 US
ROG - Rogers network Cananda

There are some others, but can't remember them

But if what you installed works good, really no reason to change it. If your friend can remember which ComGen version they originally had, it would help a little.

So, I have an Acer_A500_7.006.01_COM_GEN1. I purchased brand new from Futureshop online, in Canada. Does the 7.006.01 mean something different, or do I have a device destined for Europe? ( Or by Europe, did you mean, the rest of the world, cause the US is almost the only non-metric country in the world? ( I am not trying to be a smartass, just trying to figure out if my tab is meant for a different market or not,) I know the GPS in there things isn't very good, but mine is horrible, taking at least 5 minutes to get a marginal signal from at most 4 or 5 sattelites. Maybe because I have a GEN1?
