Using the CaseMate Tough for the last 6 months or so. Can't fault it. Extremely robust, no cracks etc.

No issues with GPS signal (that is limited to the mirror-silver version of CaseMate's "Barely There" product)
same, the tough has saved my DHD a lot of times when I've been drunk and falling about ! still in great shape after many knocks

I've got a Casemate tough, and it doesn't f. about, no sir. I take good care of my phone, but accidents will happen - short of nuclear war, the casemate will protect. End of.

I had both and I advice you to go for the Case-mate, without hesitation.

They both work the same way : a thin silicon skin, that you cover with a solid plastic case. But the Otterbox "solid" plastic case is so thin that I broke it twice, just while mounting it.

I bought the case-mate only a few days ago but I can tell you it feels much much robust.

I have used a CaseMate Tough for about 10 months. I have dropped my phone several times with no damage to phone or case. I use sat nav with case on and all works fine. I really have nothing bad to say about it.

I have had my DHD for a year now and I have both Otterbox and Case Mate. I gave Otterbox a go for a few days but it is CM which I find best. Although it does not protect the ports as well as the Ox it is easier to hold in your hand and does not slide due to the texture of the back. As far as the protection against impact goes I would say they are the same. IMHO CM looks better.

I've had the Otterbox Defender, Case Mate Barely There and Otterbox Commuter

The defender is too bulky for a phone case, especially if you want it in your pocket. However I used a defender on a Samsung Galaxy Tab and its definitely worth having for a tablet.

The CM barely there doesn't offer that much protection, only just found out about the tougher one from this thread. Will probably get one of these to try out.

The commuter which I've currently got and had for the last 3-4 months has been good, only thing is I've managed to snap off the thin strip of plastic at the bottom where the USB cable plugs in. And also, like someone mentioned before, it does seem to gather dust.

I've got the otterbox comuter and dropped it quite a few times.

The phone is okay but the otterbox hard shell has cracks at the hardware power button, at the usb port, at the corner closest to the speaker and at the diagonal corner....

The case is still usable, but the thin parts at the power button, the volume buttons and the usb port art broken pretty fast.

Don't know about the casemate case, but as long as you don't drop your otterbox as much as i do (which is a lot!!), you will be okay!

I have the Defender(from Otterbox) and I dropped it a few times(by accident) and it's just fine! everything is still there and in one piece.
I'm about to get the commuter case as well so I'll be able to make a comparison between them and tell which one is better for what needs.

Powerskin

I got myself the Powerskin for my DHD. It packs a 1500 mAh battery! It makes the phone thicker and heavier, but what a pleasure re battery life! My phone goes for 2.5 days without charging if I need to. I still have my Otterbox Commuter which is great.

I've had the Otterbox Commuter, but after using it for almost a year, i had to bin it. It was completely broken, and i hadn't even dropped it that much. I'm currently using a temporary little plastic cover, but i regret not immediately buying a new hard cover, since i dropped my phone and the glass broke. I'm planning on trying out the powerskin soon, and i just installed a new screen protector.

Go for the Otter

My screen protector was pulling up on the INSIDE part of the plastic housing on my OB Defender. Notified Otterbox and 2 days later, I had an ENTIRELY new replacement, including a new belt clip. They stand by their warranty, and the protection can't be beat.
