Hello XDA Friends,

I have a MyTouch 3G Slide that got dropped in the toilet. It was my Daughter In Laws phone. I am hoping to be able to recover it, but so far all I can successfully do is get into HBOOT/Fastboot. I have been able to install the ADB drivers but adb just reports that the device is offline. I have tried the original usb cable as well as other cables so I am pretty sure it is not a faulty cable.

I have done a lot of searching and so far, I think I need to unlock the boot loader before I can do anything with fastboot. However, when I run the

fastboot oem get_identifier_token

I get

C:\Android\tools>fastboot oem get_identifier_token
...
(bootloader) [ERR] Command error !!!
OKAY [ 0.000s]
finished. total time: 0.000s

Also, in order to unlock the bootloader i need to be able to apply the froyo update from HTC, but I cant do that without ADB, so kind of stuck in a loop. I think the ADB being offline is probably do to physical damage from the swirley.

Any advice or new direction would be most appreciated.

Thanks.

Thread moved to Q&A. It has been a bit since you posted this so it may be moot, but I have seen rice being reported as effective for water damage. Put the phone in a small bowl of uncooked rice and it should absorb water. Also the silica gel packets that get shipped with stuff can work well.

yh as whoareyou said, install the hboot again the way he said or get a image(specifically for mytouch 3g slide) from online and put it in the root of the sd card and boot into hboot mode and its going to ask you to install and click yes. it seems like hboot is damaged and your partitions are corrupted
