Ok so I have become lost in reading all these threads about if I can or cant unlock my boot loader or flash certain roms etc so lemme give you the specs and please point me in the right direction to some threads or information that could help me. I am basically looking to root my phone and flash a rom that is as bloatware free and fast as possible with as many bells and whitsles for custimization as i can get.

My Phone:

Model Number: C6906

Android Version: 4.4.4

baseband version: 8974-aaaaanazq-10270054-51

Kernal Version: 3.4.0-perf-g0109737

Build Number: 14.4.a.0.108

so again ig anyone can point me to the right information so I dont screw my phone up that would be great. I know what I am doing once I get to the right info as I moded my last 3 phones myself just I know it is very sensitive to each phone and build.

If i am not mistaken, that is an xperia z1 right?
So go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z1/development/newroot-z1-t2807092
P.S. To see if you can unlock your boot loader type this *#*#7378423#*#*,then service info, configuration, now you will see Rooting status:Bootloader unlock allowed:and yes or no,thats it!At least on my Xperia z is this way :)

It means you can't unlock your bootloader. It's permanently locked and there's no way around it.

here!
WTF!!! does that mean I cant flash a custom rom? I have it rooted but still says no on the bootloader
Yes you can NOT flash custom ROMs like Cyanogenmod or Paranoid Android or PAC MAN or AOSP or AOKP etc without unlocking bootloader because they need custom kernel and the custom kernel need unlocked bootloader and you can't unlock your r bootloader because it's not possible on your device.
You can ONLY flash stock based ROMs and stock ROMs.

Ok guys,now explain me something.
Why are some phones allowed to unlock and some not allowed??
Isn't that cause the phone is simlock to a companie, like mine(vodafone).
And if we unlock the sim, when contract is over we can unlock bootloader,by requesting to sony the unlock code for bootloader or something?
Cause my guess is bootloader unlock is off, cause we are restricted to that companie, but if you buy a phone without a contract ,that means you can use what sim you want, the bootloader is allowed to unlock!
Am i wrong?
:)

Only C6602 or C6603 models has unlockable bootloader
And the simlock and non unlockable bootloader devices are different if your device model number C6606 so you should buy C6602 or C6603 if you want to unlock the bootloader ;)

If you have a non unlockable bootloader, it's because your carrier requested it be that way. Sony support won't unlock and will direct you to your carrier, who don't have the means to unlock it.

Network/sim lock is not connected to your bootloader at all.

Well, you can try but others here have asked Sony before and they always reply that they will not do anything.

Yes, this place is about learning and sharing what you know. I learnt everything I know about Android from reading on XDA, so try to pass it on. ;)
