When I popped the back off I noticed that there were 4 gold contact points in a row in the upper left. I looked at the inside of the back and found 2 related points where 2 of the contact points "connect". The back has a large "sticker" which incorporates these 2 contact destinations - what I am asking is does this "sticker" and the 2 gold contact destinations do anything ? I understand that a simple circuit could be behind this sticker - why else does it close the connection between the 2 points on the phone with the back on. I am reluctant to experiment with a beautiful LG G3 only hours old in my posession (MY BABY!) but I wonder if this is the way local providers and LG make my phone self identify as a D852 vs D850 (which is for some reason clearly printed on the phone itself). It makes sense to me that LG will build millions of 850s and then the locals will turn them into 852s to satisfy their monopolistic network needs. Any comments?
