[Q][PORT][ALT] Alternatives and Porting of Stock Apps (Video Player)?

I really like some of LG's so-called "Optimus UI 3.0" apps.. and i know that its extremely difficult to port it to other ROMs..
the JB V20a update has (pathetically) slowed down my phone.. so, i am planning to flash CM.. :fingers-crossed:

So, plz suggest me alternatives (free/paid) to LG stock apps, especially..

• Video Player
• Quick Memo and Memo (Port by arararagi)
• Messaging
• Camera (Port by iodak)
• Dialer
• Contacts

Well there is no direct alternative but-
MX Player
Google Keep
Sliding Messeging Pro or Go Messeging

mx player, for sure
in CM u still can take screenshots by default. but for notes u'll need google keep.
and why do u wanna change messaging app?!

I use keep. It is beautiful. Nova launcher with Galaxy S4 theme would be just great looking on CM. Stock CM camara is useless.

» change play speed (0.5x, 2x)
» preview another moment of video while playing
» play video in thumbnail
» subtitle support

None of them, exept live zooming in middle is implemented. Someone has to port the app. Wait till anyone does.

Well I have ported QuickMemo, but I have found mx player and the CM stock app apps to be adequate for the remaining functionality.

afaik, it's difficult to port stock apps due to their heavy reliance on OS and vendor-specific architecture..
but, i guess, it's not impossible..

Can you please try to port the video player (stock app) to CM or as an independent app for any other ROM?

If everybody need to port almost or all stock LG apps to CM, why don't you go back to use stock ROM? :beer:

a ROM is much more than the stock apps it provides!
CM 10.1 is immensely customizable and versatile.. not to mention it gives you the latest JB 4.2.2 features..
Its updates are also regular and well-tested..

I just want the good features provided by LG (via a few of their stock apps) without the additional bloatware..
