[Q] Quarx 02.11 - smudge on pictures

Did anyone notice some kind of smudge on pictures that are taken with the Motorola Defy+, since Quarx' build of 02.11? The smudge always occurs on exactly the same place in every picture. It is best shown when taking a picture of a white wall.

I've had the same problem with an older Epsylon3 build (not sure anymore which version I was using at that time), but then the smudge was in a different place.

See attachments for example.
epsylon_IMG_20120606_210159.jpg --> smudge on older Epsylon3 build (bottom right)
before_IMG_20121029_072024.jpg --> no smudge on Quarx' 18.10 build
after_IMG_20121106_163756.jpg --> smudge on Quarx' 02.11 build (in the middle, a bit more to the right)

I was first thinking of a spot on the lens itself, but as it happened right after updating to the new build, it doesn't seem to be the case. I'm willing to revert back to the previous build to prove this. Going to try it out this evening, and make better pictures...

edit:I usually don't take pictures of walls, that's why I don't have a better example with the 2nd picture ;)

Anything with the latest update that might have caused this?

Defy § Quarx's CM10
Out of the hundreds of shots I've taken and about 3 mods I've used, I've never had a "smudge" appear. I am currently running on Quarx's 2012.11.02 build, with the 11.07 update.

Would reinstalling the camera app be a possible fix? Or is this deeper and more to do with something in the modding or kernel?
And youre sure you don't drool into the camera? :p

Drooling wouldn't be a problem as the device is supposed to be waterproof :p
I guess it's a hardware issue afterall because I've been restoring earlier backups and the problem still remains. A fresh install of previous builds didn't solve it either.

It's just weird because it happened right after updating to the latest build. And I remember that it happened the same way with the previous smudge.

Is it possible that some updates are permanent, so that the changes remain, even after restoring a backup?

Well what odd is that this "smudge" moved yet seem to be the same. I would have originally thought it was a very small hair or dust resting on the lens.

If it's a mistake in the code... well that's even stranger to me but flashing Roms may not fix it. Have you tried reverting back to a stock SBF?

It seems to be the same indeed, just rotated. But it's not something on the glass, so I guess it's in between the glass and the lens.

That sounds quite possible, I would say it's resting on the lens glass but it'd have to be small as hell as to not cover the tiny lens. You'll probably need a microscope to see the little bugger! If it's on the inside of the protective glass it may be easier to spot. If I had to make a bet, it's definitely something in there and not a quirk in the coding. Unfortunately I don't know the hardware well enough to suggest where to go next. Good luck.
