I'm very excited about buying this phone, but i have some questions Before purchase:

[please refer to the number when answering ]

1 - Does this phone works with external keyboard or gamepad/joystick?
2 - Is there any way to stream content to another screen using TV-out or some app (for smart tvs) or even any dongle?
3 - Does this phone deals with the OTG cables and manages to read and write on Flash memory? (I've seen and older post where it was read only for SD cards, but it was before the kit kat update,so, how is it going now?)

Thanks in advance for your support

If you have a dlna enabled device, like a 360 or a PS3, you can use an app like Skifta to stream from your phone to it. I use it all the time and it works out fine.

My TV is DNLA enabled [Also wifi direct],but i'll be able to send the files from my phone to TV or I'll have to use my tv to browse into my phone memory until finding the file?

I'm not 100%, but I think u read that KitKat actually removed native OTG storage support.

If that's right, you'll just have to root and use StickMount like I do on my N5

Whilst we're talking about controllers, is there any tool that lets you use your Moto G as a controller for an Android tablet.

So for example I have Fifa 14 on the Android tablet and use my Moto G as the control pad for it..

1) Yes, even can run usb soundcards
2) Yes: Wifi Direct, Miracast, DLNA, Chromecast. No: HDMI, MHL
3) Read only by default, needs root to enable writing

Next time please post your questions in the Q&A thread, thanks. :)

Linux on motog

Thanks everybody for support, I have one more question :
4 - Does it runs linux (ubuntu or another linux) on Virtual machine? It's a quad core and 1GB ram
the 2013 version of ubuntu I think is heavier, but maybe the 2010 or 2011 is light enough?

So guys, to make a long story short: Moto G with KITKAT DOES have support to SDCard Readers through OTG cables but ONLY for reading, right? Writing is only possible with rooted phones.

I want to buy one and this is really important for me to know.

Thanks!

This was apparently true for the Meenova device.....http://www.meenova.com/st/p/m3r.html#devList. But then today a new updated post that reads:

Moto X and Moto G Running Android 4.4
Android 4.4 KitKat update disables external USB storage access on both Moto X and Moto G. You now need to use a third party App to access the Meenova reader (or any other external card readers or USB sticks). Though now you don't need root privilege to write to USB storage on Moto G. We tested and verified the following options, all Apps available from Play Store:

Use App "Nexus Media Importer".
Use App "OTG Disk Explorer".
Use App "Total Commander" (free) and "USB Stick Plugin" (not free).
Install both Apps.
Plug-in the microSD card reader.
Start up "Total Commander" and it will show "USB Stick Plugin" as an option.
Select the "USB Stick Plugin".

If it works, let us all know. :)
