Since 17th of Dec. 2010 RagnarokOnline[MMORPG] is available for free at the japanese Android Market with Softbank provider network !

required OS : Android 2.1 or higher

Ragnarok Mobile Story ver.1.1.0(english first translation steps take 4 without crashfix) (modified by kR105!/ translated by dbaf14 . better translation will follow) / added 19.02.2011

(if installation fails , just uninstall old version first!)

now there should be in english :

- first start texts and menu
- game start menu
- character edit
- option menue
- info text during main game
- some skill names
- ingame menu buttons.... to big
- some battle messages
- job names
- some more skills,,usage and so on
- chat window
- some event list entries
- item refine texts
- options menu after get killed
- emotion information
- item shop texts
- party/guild messages
- trade/deal/exchange system
- some more shop traders
- some more item refiner texts
- background translations for developers

Instructions:

- install the game
- you need to create a file on your sdcard called romobile_iccd.txt
- open it and put a number(softbank SIMserial) with 19 characters starting with 8981200....
- make sure that the file only has 19 characters, nothing less and nothing more
- save it
- run the game

[ensure that you did not name your file romobile_iccd.txt.txt !!! only romobile_iccd.txt will work!!!]

IMPORTANT :
please DONT post your SIMSERIAL you use for play cause other players could take it to delete your charaters! ^_^

please DONT delete unknown Characters ! if you see , it means that this simserial is already in use, so please use another one.

please DONT talk to japanese players in english language cause they could talk to the developer to bring up another ban for us foreign players! =)

An account will automtically created following to the small first-start-guide in this post! (scroll down!!!)

--------FIRST-START-GUIDE--------

here you have the possibility to:

-create at web (only reachable wich japanese provider simcards!)
-auto create / new account <----- !!!!
- use already existing account (only for gamer who'd play this game on non android devices b4)
we take auto create !!

here your password will shown (note this !!,,,maybe its useful one day! )

there we have the standart button for start the game (there are only more like ..HELP/webpage/options)

now at character select area you can create a character !
first choose the free slot 1 and select it ! then you can select "create"

-------------------------------------------------------------

then you can choose your gender and after this your hair style!!!

after style select you can insert your favourite nickname !
then there is a small check and if available, you can touch "next"

now you can choose a gameserver/world where to play with your character...but there is just one to select with a strange name furotti or something like this

here you can agree with your input before your chara will finally created!
click はい for YES　when everthing is okay ^^

back at the char.select screen you can touch slot 1 to select your chara and can start / delete / cancel ..additional you can see information bout your char. here!

at the first start you can skip the prolouge if you dont want to be flooded with many japanese text you dont understand!!
please use first "NO" and then "YES" to skip!

I'd download the Game and got following messages

<with internet turned off>

: cant connect to the server (in japanese)

<with internet turned on>

"ご注意 ,この端末ではご利用できません" ->Note, Your Device cannot enter

I tested this app an several devices like : Desire , DesireHD , HTC Legend , Samung galaxy I7500 , SGalaxy S , SGalaxy Tab
~ all same message (some of them are available in japan too!!!)

then i tried to Edit the "build.prop" that my Devices act like an japanese version of that phone ~ Example Desire = "X06HT"(in japan)
~same message

then i tried to use a Hypersim wich can be used to let local SIM-cards work with for ex. japanese provider locked phones ...
~ nothing

so this game will read information or provider information like SIMSerial to check if iam in japan or i use a Softbank Simcard!!!

after a time i was debug that app a little and i'd see always things like "$501" and "$502"... and i thought ,,maybe modify the app will help ~

when i extract that "classes.dex" out of that apk and disassemble it i will get the classes.dex unpacked source

then if i open "AppRoot.smali" and search for "$501" and "$502" will see some things wich will maybe help to skip that reading the simserial

maybe someone have that skills to modify this ?

me and many other really would like to play that Game , doesnt matter if its in japanese or not

I would like to see this running on our phones too! (personally an RO addict for 10 years since its launch) I'm not a hacker, but if anybody needs to translate or understand any Japanese text I'll gladly help out. =)

translate the app wouldnt be that problem , but it uses japanese server !
with many japanese on it !!^^

and i was surprised when i'd read about it how everything works and so on ,,it has same functionality like the pc version before beta2 was released !^^

Wow, that totally brings back memories!!! But like you said the challenge is that it runs on the Japanese servers. If it were a standalone game then a translation would be closer and more within our grasp. I do wish you the best of luck however, but I think for the ultimate experience it'd take a legit localization.

maybe if we could test the game , we can try it !^^

i'd already find that string with the information about the server adress (game,character,login ~ servers)
and seems to work with original servers
it needs just to change

the provider GungHo hosts the PC versions server in Japan too,
maybe its possible to play at one server , Android&PC ..no idea yet

but it wont download the game data to SD until we can start it normally once!!!

makes me wonder if you were able to change the server that the mobile game plays on, if you could use the valkyrie servers or if it would have to be a non official server.

or if it could even be played on the normal pc servers at all

not sure on wich other servers it could run , but i got some more knowledge about the problem , !!!

if someone want to test it too:

when you disassemble the classes.dex (the file inside the apk) then u can find the file "i" in "\out\app\roms\c\a\"

when u open it with the txt editor of your choice (ex.: Notepad++), you can find the thing on line 749 - 759

the app(Ragnarok) asks the phone.apk for the simserial of inserted simcard ! (/system/app/phone.apk & phone.odex)

in line 751 its possible to change the path ..maybe to an modificated phone.apk on sd(so nobody need root) wich act like the original phone.apk but with an unchangeable simserial-entry of an japanese softbank simcard to be accepted by the check server

Here an mod. wich let the app scan phone.apk for simserial on sd card !
DOWNLOAD(it cant scan your real simserial so no error message)

the faked phone.apk file should be like this -> /sdcard/phone.apk

no idea if the simserial is need to create an account in game ,, if yes ,and if its maybe possible soon,everybody needs his own simserial of such an softbank sim !!! -.-

i'll continue testing,,but need more skills from other users!!!

Wow, RO on Android? This is a winner game right here. But like most Japanese online games, they use verification to block out non-Japanese users. Most of their MMORPG do. Unless translation and different servers are available I can't see this happening for us. Too bad though, would really like to play this.

there are just the maps from the alpha version of ragnarok released 10years ago with just [ゲフェン]Geffen, parts of [プロンテラ]Prontera and [イズルード]Izlude!
no, alberta,morroc,payon???
[they say more maps will come soon ]

but there are already some additional jobclasses 2:2!!!

maybe old p-servers could work !^^

my next steps are :

->a friend is java mobile game developer in s.korea , he'll check that codes for me next days(but he has no knowledge bout android specific things)

-> search for my old ragnarok alpha version client burned on CDROM many many years ago anywhere in the attic to try connect that android server

its really close to the original !! but there are not so much map's/monster/items

but there is already job/trade/chat/party system includet!!!

so now i tried to make an app wich act like the phone.apk in ...system/app/..
wich fake the systemservice , telephonymanager and simserial output,,,, but still no success

(app name was fhone.apk , pushed into system/app/.. , changed the entry on classes.dex to let the ragnarok app take the fhone.apk insted of the phone.apk and let it run ...i already have 2 simserials of softbank simcards wich should work )
but still dont know how to make that string(simserial) work as fake simserial...

if someone else with better skills could try it ?
