[Q] remap keys to recent

I have used the Google out of Google

I have used the search button on the forum

I have followed multiple different threads on this forum and have basic knowledge​

I've Noticed that no one has made a MOD for making the menu button a recents button(as is ICS 'Natural'), and I want to try to accomplish this task myself. I have managed to make the menu softkey operate as the recent key by changing the .kl files in /system/usr/keylayout/ to use the key as APP_SWITCH, but that gives me the gingerbread style Recents with only icons. I am hoping to incorporate the Sense 4 style recents into a .zip for a MOD on the forum as I have seen multiple requests for such a mod and I desire one myself.

ANY POINT IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION/BIT OF GUIDANCE IS INCREDIBLY APPRECIATED. I'M TRYING EVERYTHING I CAN THINK OF!!!!!

I have found this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1450138 and am thinking I need to modify the source code to use the sense 4 style recents for APP_SWITCH.

Is this the right path? Is there a better path to take for this?

cm10 has implemented the button remap feature. now you can easily change the menu button long press to recent apps in cm10
