[Q] Ringtone/Playlist reset after SD unmount/connected to computer help

Would anyone know a way to prevent my saved playlist and profile ringtones from resetting (getting cleared) after connecting my phone to the computer?

I created playlists and used songs as profile ringtone, but after connecting the atrix to sync my media files and disconnecting it from the computer, my saved settings (playlists and profile ringtones) are cleared/gone.

additional info:
My songs are saved on my external SD, so when i connect it to my computer, it unmounts.

root and put the files in /system/media/audio/ringtones . That's only surefire way to fix this annoying issue. On either internal or external sdcard I would lose the saved ringtones every so often when it was unmounted/mounted from either connecting my phone to my PC or powering off/on my phone.
