Bluetooth Voice Dial Fail on SGH-I896

:mad:

Help! I just bought a Samsung Galaxy S Captivate SGH-I896 from Rogers. Out of the box, it did not support Bluetooth Voice Dialing.

Via Kies, I updated it to Froyo 2.2 Build Froyo UXJL1.

Bluetooth Voice Dialing is now present. But as described, it will activate Bluetooth Voice Dialing but it seems the Audio is not working, hence, no feedback and it will not recognize any commands.

I read from here that you can root the Captivate with ??? to allow the flawless operation of Bluetooth Voice Dialing? Can someone guide me on how to root this particular Firmware JL1?

I live in BC where it is the law that you cannot touch your phone while driving....

Thanks

I use Vlingo with svox here in California with the same requirement. Had to purchase one of the svox voices to make it work, but it does work with Paragon 6.0 and my bluetooth headset.

ADDITIONAL NOTE:

Checked VLINGO support website:
Bluetooth is fully supported for Vlingo 2.0 when using a headset that is A2DP compliant. Vlingo will speak to you and you will be able to speak your commands through the headset. Vlingo has successfully tested the following Bluetooth headsets with Vlingo and Vlingo InCar:

* Jabra Cruiser
* Jabra Cruiser 2
* Jabra Extreme
* BlackBerry M-605
* Aliph Prime Jawbone

Ok. I installed firefly and I now have voice dialing through bluetooth but I want to use vlingo instead of the default voice dialer. How do I change it to launch vlingo instead on the long press on my bluetooth?

Thx

Vlingo - settings controls most of the features.

Phone: settings-voice input/output is the second .

I was unable to get bluetooth commands through Vlingo with my mOtorola h750, but choice dialer worked for me, fyi.

Thanks. Took a look through both of the settings that you mentioned and there isn't a place to set it as the default bluetooth voice dialer. I think I'll have to keep digging.

firefly app

Which firefly app from the android market do I need to download. I already installed Vlingo, but its not what I want cause its not completely handsfree and does not do what I want with my bluetooth when trying to speak into my bluetooth to try to dial a phone number crom my address book. It automatically searches the web when using Vlingo to try to call someone uaing my bluetooth. Please Help!

To update my earlier post about VD not working: I find if I am in a QUIET place, it doesn't work too bad (not 100%), but if I"m driving, the bit of noise that gets picked up pretty much makes it worthless.
