Are U looking for a real hero ROM?


I totally agree with the quote from rdejager @ villainrom.co.uk/forum :

We can all face it - the hero is not made for 2.2 and even more 2.3 .... Our phones are just not made for 2.3 sense and 2.2 sense .... 2.1 sense roms run fine on the hero. and you can really see that they are made for it, cuss everything just works for it, the hardware is made to the software...

So - do U want to use the power of our long development journey in a fresh ROM?(based on WWE Android 2.1 with htc sense 2.1)

Good News:

-> Repack ROM from elelinux based on stock ROM 3.36.405.1!
-> VillainROM v13.0 Release * WWE * Android 2.1 *
-> other 2.1 roms


How do U tweak them? How du U like them?

Like to try a 2.1 SenseROM again after spending a couple of months on Ginger & Froyo.
At first I want a speedy and stable build.

I have just tried to flash 7.0 v1.0 (Elelinux) - and no, it is still noticeably slower than Elelinux-6.2.0-RC0-Hero-Speedmachine rom (6.2). Slightly faster that 7.0 v0.9, but still far beyond 2.2. So; is it possible that a 2.1 feels again more faster?

Will report back my impressions - if U like!

I would suggest Mr. Bang's 2.1 Sense ROM. It is, apart of Cronos, the latest updated 2.1 ROM, and is by far smaller in size (nearly 30 MB!). In addition FlyKernel-12a is a good choice

Well, I know I went from 2.3 Gingerbread to Mr. Bang's 2.1 Sense ROM and felt very satisfied with the speed and stability of good old 2.1, especially since Sense makes your phone full and not fragmented so you have to download widgets and other things to get it as you want. The only thing you may miss is the new functions and apps that require 2.2+.

Edit: I also encourage you to take a look at Tegro 2.5 RC3, it is very Sense-like, but I haven't tested it.

Use Villainrom 12. You can customize it with their kitchen. It may be old, but that doesnt mean its crap .

I myself flashed FlyKernel 11C BFS over it and it works fine here .

Thankx for the suggestions - looking again for VillainROM (i'm a donator)!
I'm impressed and feel backed in my plan to downgrade to 2.1 sense Rom.

My question now is:
How do we can make "VillainROM 12" or other "2.1" Roms more stripped and tweaked?

- OpenGL
- EGL
- Gallery 3D
- Latest Gapps
- Implement HTC Hero OTA update 3.36.405.1

So far as I know a modded version of FlyKernel 11C Cuss 12A is buggy, for me it is unstable and I dont like it. now running 11C on Villainrom and well it runs smoother then 12A

Pulsar had a modded version of Flykernel 11C in his Froydvillain release. I was refearing to that.

What did I tweak. well the lockscreen, battery Icon, and I removed like 90% of the apps. and I updated EGL. And well I love it.

Now I am on Flykernel 12A M652-M176-noatime

I got awesome battery life.

I went back to Ginger for a test. and well no that was a no go....

The speed in Villainrom is insane.

RCMix is nice and all, but still even VR12 is bloated but RCMix, man... even if you remove all that crap. You can never get the speed of VR12.
