I got my Gtab all set up w/ CWM .8, and flashed bottle of smoke for some honeycomb goodness. I've tried flashing other ROMs, but keep getting the same error:

assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "harmony" ...etc etc

I even tried to reflash bottle of smoke, but get it again...what am I missing?

Thanks

OK, so BOS was working? and you were using CWM.8? You would have had to have been on 1.2 bootloader for BOS, and CWM .8 doesn't work on 1.2.

ok, now i'm confused...how do i get back to 1.1?
What DO you have working right now? Where do you want to go?

If you have CWM .8 working, then you could flash back to 3588 stock rom, with stock recovery and start from there...either then flashing to 4349 to get to 1.2 to go that direction, There is a CWM version that DOES work in 1.2.

OR, you could stay with 1.1 (3588) and install CWM .8 again, and flash a 1.1 rom.

If CWM .8 IS working right now, you should be able to wipe all data/caches and flash a 1.1 based rom.

How did you flash BOS? The only ways I can think of are NVFlash and stock 4349 recovery...

ooooookkkk....i'm learning the lingo now. I'm on BOS, and it is a little too buggy for me, so I wanted to switch to Vegan or CM and see which one I liked better. I went from stock 4349 straight to BOS so I have to downgrade back to the 3588, install CWM .8, then flash CM?

As far as I know, you cannot downgrade/upgrade bootloaders using cwm 0.8. Mainly because CWM does not modify the bootloader. BOS/4349 use 1.2 bootloader and 3588/Vegan/CM use 1.1 bootloader. 1.1 ROMS -> 1.1 ROMS are fine using CWM
and possibly 1.2 ROMS -> 1.2 ROMS (which is why you could use it to go from 4349 to BOS).

I think u will have to

BOS CWM -> BOS stock recovery -> Install 3588 using stock recovery -> 3588 + CWM 0.8 -> CM/Vegan/TNT Lite.

I have not used BOS (yet), but I would expect Roebeet has scripts to switch between stock recovery and CWM recovery for step 2.

If only you read my reply before you started :)

Anyway, NVFLashing is good to know ....

yeah, just a little too eager to get it going!

Any tips on getting the USB Drivers to install? I keep getting "Windows has determined your driver is up to date" after installing the ADB Driver

I am on linux

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1086141

has a video tutorial on NVFlash ing which might help.

Read some of the recent NVflashing posts before you start. There seem to be some people getting into bootloops after NVFlashing.

I'm assuming you meant Vegan ginger, right? If you just want Vegan 5.1.1, then you could stay on the 1.2 bootloader and flash Brilliant Corners. It's a 1.2 version of Vegan 5.1.1.

This is exactly why it would be nice for the 1.1 rom devs (there are only 2 that are used regularly) to update their Roms to 1.2...get rid of the confusion and people bricking their tablets becuase they feel the need to NVFlash.

The fact is, you were on 1.2 BOS and wanted to get ot a 1.1 rom...It's simple, Follow the instructions on the "foolproof flash to 4349" thread and stop once you've got 3588 installed...you'll be on a fresh install of 3588, with none of the remnents of BOS or 1.2 hanging around...start as clean as it is possible in order to avoid mistakes and problems.

If you ask me, NVFLash has been causing more and more people problems. From what I've read, it's a good tool to have IF you need to recover from a softbrick, but now EVERYONE is trying to NVFlash this, and NVFlash that...it's getting people into trouble, that they wouldn't have been in if they were sticking to CWM, or in some cases, STOCK RECOVERY.

I updated to 1.2 and flashed Brilliant corners over a week ago. I know that I can flash a version of CWM for 1.2, but I haven't yet, simply becuase I see no need to do it. I can always use stock recovery to flash a new rom, if I wanted to.

That is a good point and sooner than latter will be a big problem for newbies. Will be all kinda posts "Help my tab is a brick why?"
It's already happening. the BIG problem, is that people will have 1.1 bootloader, try to flash a 1.2 rom, and think it's bricked...OR, they'll be on 1.2, try a 1.1 rom, or worse, 1.1 CWM and think it's bricked. Then they come here and hte first bit of advice given to them is NVFLASH!!!! It's our SAVIOR...NVFLASH...

next thing you know, they really ARE softbricked. NVFLASH CAN cure all, but it can also screw up all, I'm finding. the Format all zip is great...in my opinion, if all else fails, don't go messing around on a root level, taking the chance that you can accidentally type an ' in the wrong place and not notice, only to find out that you're softbricking yourself. No matter what, with ANY computer system, formatting and starting over is always a safe bet, before messing with stuff that's picky.

I just answered a post from a new user that just got his g-tablet. He tried flashing CWM and it didn't work. He posted his system details. He's already on 1.2 boorloader (4349) and pershoots kernel is installed. This is going to happen a lot more pretty soon. Ebay specials will come with all this stuff on it. Imagine if he hadn't posted letting me know that he was on 1.2, and I hadn't caught it. Somebody that wasn't sure might have told him to start NVFlashing the crap out of it, basically making the situation worse.
