guys, what happens if i install a ROM based on C6506 to my device C6503? I'm getting quite antsy to try out the new ROMs.

I don't think it's a problem they're same just different region - both LTE bands. You can always flash back!

so i wont be able to use my LTE when a ROM from a different version is installed? I'm quite sad that most ROMs we have are for C6506. Anyone here installed those ROMs on a different ZL version?

No - they should work fine. If you do not get LTE after flash any version of rom (stock or not). Using flashtool choose your region (your carrier) stock rom: uncheck everything on the top right screen part (wipes), check everything except baseband on the middle right -Flash just bb, then everything should be normal. Again you can flash any Rom that is made for XZL.
