Is there any way to root a Galaxy S5 G900V running Lollipop without tripping KNOX?

I'm not looking to use a custom rom, I am just trying to get root for data recovery. (Deleted Photos)

I believe so, as when I boot my phone it says "Custom."
Showing the custom boot screen does not mean knox is tripped. Go to the play store and install samsung phone info app. It shows the knox status. I have rooted and rolled back to stock a number of times although not to 5.0, have had the 'custom' screen and my knox status is still 0x0 which is 'not tripped' ...

@mrjiggywiggy Could someone please let me know where the " ... one that is 100% stock with root" can be found? I have a new Developer Edition Verizon S5 (SM-G900V, baseband version 0900V0YU1BOC4) running lollipop 5.0.

Of course, I want to avoid tripping KNOX if at all possible. I've searched dozens of sites, and hundreds of pages in 30-40 XDA-developers threads, but I haven't found a solution.

If possible, I'd like to not have to downgrade to 4.x first. Thanks in advance!!

You do not want to flash that ROM because it will lock your bootloader. You have a developer edition so your bootloader is unlocked. Flashing a ROM for the retail version will lock your bootloader. You have to look for ROMs that say "dev ed" or "de" in the thread title.

Knox is not even an issue with the Dev edition anyhow. Just be wary of what has already been stated so you don't turn your Dev phone into a retail version.
