Hey guys just wondering what recovery you guys are using. I am new to this Odin thing (used galaxy nexus toolkits before with my only samsung phone)

I have rooted via towelroot, and all it well. Just wondering what recovery to flash, and how. I see a TWERP recovery, but I just want to make sure I get the compatible one for the 607T

Thanks!
Greg
can u direct me to the towelRoot method?

if towelroot works for 4.4.2 and not 4.4.4 is there a tutorial on how to downgrade from .4 to .2? I bought mine from amazon and let it update not knowing .4 doesn't have a root yet. I don't see much about .4 that is a definite must keep feature so I don't mind the downgrade.

Did that. Got the superuser zip from chainfire and flashed via TWRP and still says the binaries aren't loaded.

About to flash stock and start over.

Hopefully everyone who hasn't rooted yet is no longer using this Knox tripping method. Even with the latest firmware installed, towelroot.com has the root software. Install the apk open it and click make it rain, wait at least 10 seconds then reboot (even though it says you don't need to), then get SuperSU from Chainfire and install the apk in the zip file, open the program and update the binary via normal method, if it asks to disable Knox (and you don't need the Knox apps) then disable it. Note: this does not disable the Knox counter, just the apps.
Reboot as SuperSU suggests.
Now that you have root access, you need to get BusyBox and Xposed, get the stable version 2.6.1

If you reboot, or power up, into download mode you should see a 0x0 Knox

P.S. you don't need xposed but it has some very nifty modules.
i like CWM recovery, when should i flash it..after rooting and before xposex

I haven't used custom recovery on any of my Samsung devices simply for not wanting to trip Knox. I would say you could probably flash it after root. I don't think it matters in regards to xposed since xposed is a tool that let's you install customizations to the phone, like turning on the flashlight whole the screen is off.

2 questions-
Were you able to Odin back to 4.4.2 after taking the 4.4.4 update?
Did you try using SuperSU's 'maintain root through update' options before/when you upgraded?

Can you confirm if your KNOX counter is still 0x0?
nope, status is 0x1. but in my case I don't think that it really matters. I bought mine from amazon with unlisted screen pixel damage. I wasn't going to get much of anything from this at official places. I don't know if tmobile would even take it as a trade in.

help with pen

I bought a used one off someone that was already rooted. The s pen did not work so I flashed it with the factory 4.4.4 rom. The pen still does not work. Any help I was really interested in this feature. Knox was tripped but I do not see why that would make the pen not work. Thanks.

The first one I received, when I bought it, had a non functioning pen too. T-Mobile sent me a new one. Knox or not the pen works on my current one. It's almost paid off now so I tripped the knox when I put lollipop on it with no pen issues at all. So... my guess is it's got a defective pen sensor like my first one did.

To be honest, in the almost 2 years I've had it, I've used the pen like 3 times. Finger is just so handy & ready. LOL My Note 3's pen has been used about as much. :p

What you can do is update your tablet to 4.4.4 (go to System Update), then root using auto root method.
To install recovery, install TWRP Manager app, grant superuser permission, click on menu and install recovery.
As for Towelroot, I have the kit kat 4.4.4 stock rom, and towelroot does not work.
Hope this helps.

Now that Lollipop is finally out, thought bumping this post might bring this to the notice of those who actually know how to root :)

After flashing the new 5.1.1 firmware (downloaded from sammobile), I also managed to flash twrp-2.8.7.0-lt03ltexx-4.4 successfully, though I wasn't sure if it was compatible. Had to reboot into recovery mode immediately to get it to stick, but there was an issue, it took a long time to get into twrp when I rebooted; there was no sign of life during this entire time and made me think it had turned off or frozen, but it eventually got into twrp, and then everything seemed to be working fine. Rebooting system also worked, no problem.

Flashing the latest SuperSU (or allowing TWRP to do it automatically when it offers to on reboot system) sent the tablet into a bootloop. Had to reflash the firmware to get it working again. Which I suppose means we need to wait for a new SuperSU/cf-auto-root to be released?

If any experts see this, let me know if I can help out in the process in anyway, whether its logs or anything else that you need ... Also, any other ideas to try out, please share :)

Thanks,
Karthik

Has anyone tried TrustedZone exploit for this tablet?
It is made on Qualcomm MSM8974, so it is vulnerable to it. If it works, then rooting and custom ROMs will be no problem for owners..
