[Q] Rooted Xoom but Root Checker says No?

Hi, I've followed these steps from this forum to root my Xoom with Xoom-Universal-Root.zip. All status screens show "successful" but when I reboot, Root Checker app says I do not have root access. Any ideas? I'm trying to update to KitKat 4.4.2. after this.

I continued with the update anyway and everything installed successful. Although I now have no sound and the auto-rotate feature no longer works which I posted in a separate thread
