Hi all, i have a little problem regarding rooting the newest kitkat firmware (14.3.A.0.757)
The correct Definition is "C6903 14.3.A.0.757 Generic DE 1277-0154_R2C"

When i use NUT's firmware, everything works but not only some apps are different, there are also very minor changes in the system UI, for example the Data Symbol is displayed differently- which really grinds my gears. ( image attached, of the german version )
In NUT's version, there is a "4g" sign left to the signal bar with up and downstream arrows (or G / E / H+) - which consumes alot of displayspace.
Does anyone know how i get root on the given firmware variant without unlocking the bootloader ? ( or should i just unlock it ? i have a TA backup and x reality is supposed to work on KK ... but Image Processing [ Bionz] is gone , right?)
Or is this a matter of settings in flashtool ?
I really need Root for my Z1, i'd love to have Timeshift video, but i want it on the Generic German FW.

So let me guess, you rooted before your phone with NUT Firmware, you did a backup TA (DRM Keys) then you relashed the stock German one because of the icons, you never Unlocked Your Booloader and now you asking to root the FW provided with your phone, am I right?

Yes eclyptos ; i had it rooted once but it was the first kitkat rom and i didnt like it because of all the bugs and different symbols ( you will probably facepalm now ) so i went back and flashed a stock ftf of jelly bean, and later on, as the major bugs were fixed, I upgraded to .757, but now i want root again.
I did a TA backup when i first rooted my phone with NUT's method, (going back to 4.2.2. and so on )

What Xposed Module does change the status bar symbols ,preferably the one i mentioned?

Perfect.

I don't know the specific Module for your case, there is a tons of them, you have to spend some time HERE

..but I will follow the advice of @gregbradley , personally I prefer that way, extract from your German FTF the systemUI.apk and framework-res.apk, get root with NUT Firmware (which I presume is the NCB) then replace the files, which you extracted before, in the NUT Firmware, done. ;)

Just tried it, but Copying the files did not do the trick! :(
Are you sure you copied the right files? ..also you can try by extracting the symbol/s from the .apks files, the once you just need, and replace them in the one on rooted FW, renamed them in the same mode by recompiling the .apks file. I know it can be done because it was done many time.

I think so , framework-res.apk from system/framework and systemUI.apk from system/priv-app, right ?

i also just ran into another question. shouldnt there be other options ?... image attached.
