I've seen a lot of information about rooting the Samsung Galaxy Duos s7562 but I cannot get into the download mode. Since my daughter just bought herself one and has limited room for apps, I would like to root it to upgrade it. Here is my problem:

If I hold the volume up button, home and power buttons, the device boots into the recovery mode. This has, "Reboot System Now", "Apply Update from ADB", "Apply Update from SDCard", "Apply Update from Cache", "Wipe Data/Factory Reset", "Wipe Cache Partition", "Backup User Data", and "Restore User Date"

If I hold the volume down button and the others, the device boots into the factory mode that has "Auto Test", "Item Test", "Test Report", "Debug Report", "Clear eMMC", "Version", and "Reboot.

To perform the rooting of this device, everything says to boot into download mode by using the volume down button, home and power buttons but as I mentioned above, this does not work on my device.

I have seen a few "rooting" programs that state they will root your device without using Odin but I installed one and it put malware on my PC. Also, the phone could not be detected by anything I tried on my PC. I did the USB Debugging but there is no option on how the device connects to my PC. It always connects as a media device.

If anyone could enlighten me on how to get started on rooting the s7562, it would be greatly appreciated. I've found lots of threads and information but my main problem is how to get into download mode.

Getting in Download mode by pressing Home,Volume down,Power at same time,If it shuts off just keep press it.
Then, use ODIN to flash CWM,Final use CWM to flash SuperSU.zip inside: http://download.chainfire.eu/396/SuperSU/

Thanks for the reply but no matter how many times I use the volume down button, it always brings up the Factory Mode.

One thing I noticed about this device is the ROM has been upgraded from the stock one. This Duos is at Android 4.2.2 and almost all the posts I see say the Duos has 4.0.3 or something close to that. Since this has a different ROM, could this be the problem?

All I'm doing is trying to get the apps to the SD card using the Link2SD app but it isn't working for me either. The phone is rooted but when I partition the SD card and start Link2SD, it cannot mount the partition because of the an invalid argument. I have read people use the CWM to format the SD card but since my rooting did not install this, I cannot use it to format the card.

I have solved all my problems and have successfully made my phone transfer apps to the ext SD card. I rooted as I mentioned above and it worked fine. Since I have 2 phones, they both rooted without a glitch. As far as Link2SD not being able to mount the partition, I found the one MicroSD I had would not work. Once I got another, everything went as advertised. Both phones now have lots of room for apps and my kids are enjoying going through the Play Store now.
