[Q] Rooting, Unlocking, and OTA

Just wanted to know if I could still receive the zvb ota if i were rooted but locked. I haven't been able to get my radios to work after flashing stock zvb. I had to lgnpst to zv7 and the get zv8 and zv9 ota for everything to work again. Right now I'm unrooted and locked zv9.

Did you flash the Radios when you also updated to ZVB?

Yeah. When i did, the radios wouldn't work but i had wifi. I restored my zv9 backup, and i had radios but wifi wouldn't connect. I think i will just wait for the ota. I just wanted to know if i could root again and still reveive the ota w/o bricking.

Weird, did you flash them in the same recovery cycle as the ZVB ZIP? And as long as you don't remove any applications or modify anything it will work. You can use something like SuperSU Pro or OTA Rootkeeper to save root when you update.

You probably did everything correct. When Wifi works but the radios don't, you usually just need to update the PRL.

I'm not sure about the first time. The 2nd time that I tried it, I followed everything to a T, and had the same result. I tried again last night, and the LG keyboard kept force closing. I installed the stock android 4.2 keyboard that you linked to in another post, but 'i couldn't figure out how to get rid of the messages for the stock LG keyboard. So I LGNPST back to zv7 last night, and updated OTA to zv9 this morning.

Funny thing though...
I'm not sure if it was the updated radios or what, but I had a REALLY FAST LTE signal last night inside the house, which never happens. 5 bars, 4.5Mbps down, 8.2Mbps up. It went away after I LGNPST though.

Can I flash the ZVB radios, and would it make a difference with the zv9 rom? Also, will flashing the radio updates mess me up if I try to install the zvb OTA once they decide to push it?

ZVB radios won't work on ZV9. Did you try to update profile and prl? or do a ##72786# in the dialer?

I couldn't update the prl workout. cdma. I didn't know about the dialer tool. My phone also disappeared with the launcher.
