Hello I am new here ;P

Yesterday my phone won't boot anymore so I kinda had a problem. The software I had installed was:

http://www.theandroidsoul.com/android-4-0-4-ics-for-galaxy-s-i9000/

I was trying to get my phone back working and looked up some guides online. I tried to use the same guide I used before ( up here) but that won't work. So I kept looking to get my phone back working and found this:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1300843

I picked this one:

I897UCKJ3 Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread

And just put my phone in download mode and installed it.
My phone booted again and I was able to use it but now I have some major issues..

- My home button is not working anymore.
- My back button works like a home button and closes all my apps
- The volume buttons don't work anymore
- When i plug it in my computer or the outlet to power it, it turns off. So I can't take things of it to my computer

Also my 3G isn't working anymore. I can't use it anymore now and I have no idea how to fix this :S IF anyone has a solution that would be great.
Otherwise I will try to bring it to the store..

U got a Jig ? If not, see my signature link below for a link on where to buy or how to make one.

U could also try to clean out the micro usb port and try a different cable.

Yep. Good call ko. .... Since he flashed i9000 firmware and it may have included bootloaders (i didn't look at the link that close)...
Download = power button and volume down together.
Recovery = power button and volume up together.

If I hold the power button + volume down it shows me the At&T logo and then just starts up my phone without getting into download mode! :S

Try the above download method with ur phone powered off if u didn't already. If a no go then try below...

Open Odin or Heimdall (whichever u decide to use), Pull battery, replace it and cover, connect usb end of ur cable to the pc (not in a hub, but preferably a port in the back of the pc), hold both volume up and down together and then insert micro usb into phone. Does ur phone go into Download mode ? If so, proceed.

My model number is SGH-I897

I'm gonna try what you said now ;)

EDIT:

Okay I did what u said and my phone got into download mode!
I downloaded this file :
I897UCKK4 Odin One Click - Stock, CONTAINS Bootloaders, Re-partition, Full Wipe

And Odin found my phone and I pressed Start
It now says SetupConnection.. for about 5 minutes
How long do I have to wait?

If still no progress...U can stop Odin and completely start over as i outlined. Try a different port and/or different cable.

Be sure to have a constant power source and a reliable cable when flashin bootloaders. During the few seconds it takes to flash the boot.bin and sbl.bin, u don't want to loose power or usb/micro usb connection.

And for future reference, once u have these bootloaders flashed that r included with the kk4, there should be no need to flash back to stock with bootloaders again. If u ever need to flash stock i897 firmware again, just use one without bootloaders.

Yes. That was a full wipe firmware.

Not sure why ur home button is not working and back button acts like home button ??? May be capacitive hardware issue ??

I have no idea why these buttons are doing so weird but I'm pretty sure it's not a hardware problem because only when I installed this they stopped working. Are there any other versions I can try like the one I had before or would that totally destroy my phone?
I was trying to follow this tutorial to get it back running again but since I couldn't get into download mode I never did that:

http://www.theandroidsoul.com/android-4-1-galaxy-s-i9000-install-remics-jb-rom/

Can I just follow that guide now or would that get into trouble with the stuff I just installed?

U don't need to flash that stuff in the guide u linked, because that is only for i9000.

There are other firmwares u can try to flash in that thread where the kk4 is located. Just use the ones without bootloaders.

It now says:

"Firmware upgrade fail!
Try using recovery mode"

When I try to get it into download to install another version without bootloaders o;
Is there any way to just get it back to factory settings? I just want it to work that's all :p

I installed the one without bootloader but still same problem with the buttons. And what do you mean that I can't follow the tutorial because it's for the I9000. I have a I9000 right?

It says i897 on my phone but maybe that's the software I installed because I looked up the Samsung captivate on google and that's not the phone I have. I have a I9000 ( samsung galaxy S )
Maybe that's why the buttons are not working?
Any idea what to install for the i9000?

Btw 6 months ago i installed this:

http://www.theandroidsoul.com/android-4-0-4-ics-for-galaxy-s-i9000/

And that worked all the time and that's also for the i9000?

EDIT:

I manged to install Semaphore 2.7.4 for the Samsung Galaxy S and my buttons are working now!
Any idea what the best software is to install for the Galaxy S? :)

Thanks for all the help so far btw I didn't thought I was able to get it running again ;)

There's isn't a ''Best'' Software per say. It goes to user preference but I highly recommend AOKP or AoCP (Both on Jelly Bean).
