If I wanted to be tied down like this, I would of bought an iPhone.

All I want is like most of us want:
The ability to use ANY of our apps ANY to be able to save to the SD card.

No Root... Ever

So I have spent countless hours searching, and come up with nothing. Anyone else have an update?

On a side note. Anyone know of a good phone to replace this with? Is the Note 3 rootable? What sucks is even if I get a new phone I can't root it and back up my crap. Anyways. I love the Galaxy line, just not having root is really ticking me off. And I hate how if you call in with a problem or something they ask you to do a factory reset. Well that's all good and well if you don't care about losing everything, but if I can't have root I'm not about to do that. I really want to switch carriers at this point as it's frustrating.

Anyone have any good suggestions on phones!?

Dude..For Real??!!

So i smashed my note 2 (sch-i605) was fairly peed off atfirst. Then a thought occured (which is a miracle in my head) that now ill get a replacement device that will not have 4.4 on it.....YAYYYYY right? NOPE!! I get the device with 4.3....ok i figure i can work with that. Nah not at all. I tried geohot's awsome towelroot-no luck which is a shocker since the device should be supported..then tried every verison of framaroot-again NOPE. Even tried kingo. Now im still rather new to all this. I rooted my wifes att s3 and enjoy that. I rooted my vzw lg g pad 8.3 and like that. But with the g pad i cant do any custom roms which kinda sux. But i want MY phone rooted. Plz...why is nothing working with this phone?? Any idea why its not working when my device should be supported. Any help is always appreciated and teaches me more on this topic. Thankyou in advance.my kernel is april 10th 2014 btw on a VZW Galaxy note 2 (sch-i605) running android 4.3.

I would say a nexus device of any sort. From what i hear they seem to be the best to modify. I dont know if thats correct but from what ive seen doing research seems a good choice. Im hooked on the galaxy line tho and i figure with patience these AMAZING men and women on xda will always find a solution to all of our android woes. And as for the note 3...Id assume that if the 2 on 4.4 cant be cracked i dont see the 3 being able to be. Atleast with verizon id say. Seems verizon is the devil to Devs. Anyway happy picking friend. Hit the thanx if i helped if you dont mind

There were 2 releases of 4.3 for the sch-i605. MJ9 and ND3. MJ9 is rootable and ND3 isn't. I believe you can use Odin to go back to MJ9 if you are on ND3. Then you can root. However if you accept the 4.4.2 update you can't flash back to 4.3.

Also towelroot won't work because our phone uses a Samsung cpu which the exploit isn't present in the kernel for it.

Ok so i do infact have the ND3. Is there ANY quick root method for this device? And if so would u be able to link it. And if not at all perhaps you could send me the right direction to flash to the other build you mentioned?

There isn't a root method for ND3.

The following thread has the Guide in the first post. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2024207

You will want the return to stock section. Remember you can only downgrade to MJ9.

Ok thank you so much. Now when i do this is there anything i need to know thats important? And is it a fairly straight forward process? Or do i run risks of ruining my device? Lastly....once successful downgrading then i can use framaroot?
So sorry for all the questiins but id rather ask now rather then flooding this thread. Again thankyou very much for your guidance.

There has to be a way to root the new update, or even a bootloader unlock for anything under 4.4.2 I'd be willing to pay to anyone that's will to unlock the bootloader

I just want to be able to save to my SD card. However, as stated before, everyone has moved on from this device. There will most likely be no root or unlocked bootloader.

Does this backup app data that I can't access with out root though? Like before I would just use the root browser and copy over databases to my sd. Now I can't access it. I ended up ordering a note 3 a few minutes ago so I guess I will find out, right?

Im a bit new to rooting phones, though I have downgraded a version in the past.

Does rooting a phone automatically enable a locked bootloader?

I simply want to use T-Mobil on my 4.4.2 Verizon Note 2 I bought on Craigslist. The guy who sold it to me told me it was unlocked, and when I found out it wasnt I made him give me half my money back (So I only payed $80 for a mint condition Note II!)

Can anyone help me get TMobil work on this phone???

Thanks,

Go buy a t mobile Sim..pop it in. Go to settings>mobile networks>preferred network..choose GSM. Then after that you should be able to edit your apns in access points names.
Should be pretty easy

Just don't go flashing any T-Mobile Roms

I have tried this method already.
First off there is no option for "preferred network" also when I select GSM theres an option for "Manual" or Automatic" I guess it should be on Automatic?

What I used earlier (which did nothing after I restarted the phone) was:

Settings>More Settings>Mobil Networks>Access Point Names>
Than I pressed the plus sign and configured it this way:

Name: T-Mobil
APN: fast.t-mobil.com
Proxy: 216.115.165.050
Port: 8080
Username: Not Set
Password: Not Set
Server: Not Set
MMSC: http//mms.msg.eng.t-mobil.com/mms/wapenc
Multimedia message proxy: 216.155.165.050
Multimedia message port: 8080
MMC: 310
MNC: 260
Authentication type: Not Set
APN type: Not Set
APN protocol: IPv4
APN roaming protocol: IPv4
Turn APN on/off:: (Shaded grey) Checked
Bearer: eHRPD
Mobil virtual network operator type: None
Mobil virtual network operator val..: (shaded grey) Not Set.

This never worked.

Edit/ PS: And yes my T-Mobil Sim is in the phone.

Having the same problem. Purchased a Verizon Note 2 for my fiance today, only to find out - Sure, texts, calling, and even the internet work after selecting the GSM network (had to put it in manually, of course) - But, I'm not getting 4G LTE speeds... I know there is a way to edit that by calling a series of numbers when rooted.. But, my questions:

1. Can it be rooted so I can dial that #324 blah blah blah whatever it was to enable the LTE speeds?

2. Why can't I access my T-Mobile voicemail? I have to dial the number and input her password to do so!

3. I have also a T-Mobile Micro SIM card inserted.

So.. how can I go about getting said 4g LTE Speeds? I'm on:

Device Name: SCH-I605
Android Version: 4.4.2

Other stuff:

APN: fast.t-mobile.com
Proxy: Not Set
Port: Not Set
Username: Not set
Password: Not set
Server: Not Set
MMSC: [://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc (had to take out http, can't post links yet)
Multimedia message port: Not set
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
Authentication type: Not Set
APN type: Not set
APN Protocol: IPv6
APN roaming protocol: IPv4
Turn APN on/off:
APN turned on.
Bearer: Unspecified
Mobile virtual network operator type:
None

There is the option. Please don't come off smart. I know the option exists in stock roms. If you don't have it for some reason, if your rooted, try adding: ro.radio.networkmode=enable to the build.prop
Also to enable LTE make sure you have this line as well: telephony.lteOnGsmDevice=1 and make sure this is erased:telephony.lteOnCdmaDevice=1

I am not sure what APN's need to be added but I know it is possible. Plenty of people have done this before..LTE may not be possible but 4g is. 4g is equivalent to T-Mobiles h+.
You can also take a look at this thread:http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/development/mod-hack-permanent-lte-network-t2249498
Would be the same concept...

PS your quotes messed me all up loll

No offence, but you didn't really answer my questions? Not trying to be rude. Heh. I'm asking how to do it, and from what I've read - rooting a Note 2 on Kitkat as mine is is impossible? How do I root it to change the bands to get 4G LTE? Also,

Why can't I access my voicemail???
