[Q] Screen with weird colors when booting up... Am I bricked?

Alright, so my Captivate looks terrifying right now.

It's got the weird screen with a bunch of colors and all it does is boot cycle. I am rooted, and I was trying to flash the phone with Clockwork Recovery Mod and was using the guide below.

Well since I can't POST LINKS UNTIL I'M NOT A N00B... Google Samsung Captivate Cyanogen Guide, should be one of the top results.

I've done a lot of other phones (HTC Inspire, Samsung Infuse, and the LG P500) but this phone is a little bit different. After I got done flashing Clockwork Recovery Mod with the "heimdall flash --kernel zImage" command and rebooted my phone this screen starts looping, (attached).

What do I do!? I can't get it to boot into Download Mode, and my computer doesn't recognize it which means I can't send it any ADB commands like I did to get it into Download Mode in the first place. Which, even if I did I wouldn't know what to do in there because I've never really used Download Mode, and I guess Clockwork Mod is fried already? Idk, really just need help / a little info.

Take a look at the "captivate connection issues" thread on ways to get to download mode.

Once you're there, you can use Heimdall or Odin to flash a new kernel. It looks like you have a mismatch between kernel and rom (e.g. Froyo rom with Gingerbread kernel). Flash a kernel that matches and you should be ok.

That "pretty" screen looks like what happens when u try to flash a Gingerbread Rom and u do not already have the GB Bootloaders.

Oh yeah - my mistake. 4-2ndtwin is right. It's not a rom-kernel, it's a rom-bootloader issue.
