I've had both, the seido rugged and the otterbox defender. The seido is a nice case and built pretty well, but I couldn't wait for the otterbox because when it comes to tanks, this thing is it, they don't make em any beefier than this thing.

I do really like the defender case. I've dropped my phone a few times and not a thing except very minor asphalt impression left in rubber, like a scuff mark, but it did it's job and protected the phone. I really like the plastic clear cover to protect the screen, like a screen saver but better.

On the down side, well it's got flaws. I use mine with the belt clip, I've tried to just slip it in my pockets, but the rubber is to grippy to really slide into any cloth pocket. With effort you can get it into a pocket but again, the rubber material is a magnet for lint/hair/dust, once it comes out of your pocket, and trying to brush it off is almost futile.

The last area, I'm on my third defender case as of yesterday, what keeps happening is the two plastic halves snap together and where the belt clip snaps on to the plastic halves, there is a round divet or indentation that keeps breaking off so the belt clip can't sit in the indentation. I've had two cases do the exact same thing, for the price, it's frustrating, it's a little design flaw.
On the positive side, they have a one year warranty, I have called otterbox up each time, explained the defect, and told em I'd take a picture or send the old one back, no questions asked they have sent out a replacement. That's great customer service. I'd buy from them again, in the future, it's just a shame that they haven't revised the mold slightly to fix or address that issue.
