I just received an AT&T S3 as a free non-commitment temporary phone from AT&T . Turns out I no longer need it and want to sell on Ebay (or other) I assume the phone is carrier locked and see many sales for New in box unlocked phone. I assume that once I turn it on it will deactivate my old SIM and activate new, but I want to keep my old (Note II) and sell the S3 so ....
1. I assume it is likely carrier locked - right?
2. If I turn it on w/ included SIM it will a) no longer be New in Box and b) deactivate my old phone.
3. If I sell as Carrier locked, then I'm going to lose sale value.

Any suggestions or resources to sell a NEW AT&T phone and get max value?

Unlock the phone.
Ok - but will I need to put a SIM card in and turn it on? Won't that activate my sim, change it from New to Used and change the startup process? Do I need to insert a SIM to unlock?

Just trying to figure out what is "customary."

Thanks so much for the help!

You don't need a sim to turn on. If you put a non at&t sim card, it will ask for a code

How much are you asking? I'd like to have a spare to play with.
Just listed it on Ebay a min ago. Didn't end up unlocking after all but I don't even think it is locked! : Mode Edit: Link Removed.
If you want to play with one, I'd buy it used - this is new so someone can resell overseas I guess.
